List will definitely hit at least 1800. We have to remember the list started with 50 first few classes. If lt list hits 800 which looks very realistic at this time, Sgt list will definitely get to 1800 or even more. We still have 2 more years for list to expire.

mike16, Im just talking about this year alone. Even if the list continues at this snails pace, I think we will just touch 2000. Im hoping though that this year will see an increase in promotions due to retirements.

Although test will be then dont forget they pushed our back to allow more to take the test, and almost took a year for list to come out. I think we will see closer to 2000 2200 max if mass retirements.

They didnt push our test back so more could take it. They pushed it back Bc of the debacle that was the prior LT test by a certain captain who shall not be named.

the last 2 sgts tests were pushed back. A sgts test getting pushed back is a normal thing. Halfway mark for our list, they were up to list # 940ish, minus the Passovers it was around 900ish actual people promoted. Logic would say our list should get somewhere around 1700-1800. Everyone with a 925,926,927,928 tax comes up for retirement between today and when our list expires. No opinions here. Just facts

They sent out emails for February mentoring. The current mentoring started last week Monday Jan 13th. If someone just showed up for mentoring. He may have been on vacation last week and this is his week 1 of mentoring. I know a few people who had scheduled vacation during mentoring.

I know many of you want to get promoted very badly. You worked very hard to pass that test, and you want a return on your investment. I get it. I was were you are not too long ago, but now I finally have a line through my name. I don't care what anybody says, learning to be a boss is hard. Unless you are a Detective, or have some 1PP hooks, you will envariably get a sh-t command that takes a major every 5 minutes. Your C.O. will most likely be an *******, and you will need to show up about 30min to an hour early every day just to ensure that your tour starts off right. You will build alot of time. Many of you come from places that are short on cops. It's worse for Sergeants. You will not get much time off outside of your sh-tty vacation picks, and you will just as often not get a meal as get one, so bring food that can be eaten easily behind the desk, or in an auto. You will have to throw all your purple/grimace uniforms away, because as a probationary Sergeant you can not afford to look like sh-t, especially behind the desk. I am not saying it is all bad. I am not saying you should defer, but know that for many of you the transition from cop to boss will not be easy. So rather than worrying about this list so much, I encourage you to focus more on enjoying your last days of being a cop before they are gone.

I concur . Its a completely different job and something you will have to get acclimated with rather quickly.

Working this job requires zero skill. Only common sense. Either you got it or you dont. It's not hard, just asinine.

Still light years better than chopping up the street at 20degrees outside for ConEd. Now THATS hard. Dealing with stupid bosses with rank, play the game. Say yes yes yes and out of 3 you do 1, you are OK.

Listen, no one really knows what list number they will get up to. People can give educated guess but there a test around the cornor.  I don't care what your list number is if they announce other test study and take it. Dont assume they will reach your list number. Stay safe and don't stress your self.
