Does putting Lt's in have any kind of bearing on putting Sgts in?

Is there a LT Class going in Jan? If there is I would think it would means more vacancies which would mean a Sgt class?

No LTs and No captains on 12/18. PC and Chief of Dept came to speak to us and BMOC staff mentioned no LT and no Cpt on the 18th.

When they mentioned no LTs and no Cpts they did say "jury is still out on SGTs for January, we don't have a final decision yet". Take it for what it's worth. Hopefully that means they're just figuring out how many. Good luck.

A guy who was CARBed on the 7th passed and is being promoted "upfront" with us on 12/18. This would seem to suggest that there will be a January class, although in rare occasions they have promoted upfront and then sent the SGTs to work in their boro until another class does go in.

Thanks for the info soccerpsycho! So usually if someone is promoted upfront its because they know they have a class going in the following month?

sorry to chime in.. but YOU LL NEVER BE SITTING IN A CAR at a detail or parade...  I always thought, that once I get promoted i ll be sitting in a car just "chillin"...

Of all the parades and details I ve done for the last year, I was the first on my feet and the last one to get a meal or sit.. And on Patrol I still haven't gotten  a full hr meal.. and I work in a "B house".. i can imagine the poor guys in the "A houses".. lol... And expect to come in 30 min early to adjust your Roll Call and get settled in.  OH and don't think your out of the woods when it comes to car stops and activity..

Like my Sgt told me.. YOU LL SEE>>>

NOW I See.

I am that CARB guy. They are telling me it's still unknown about January class as of yesterday.  I might be in limbo assigned to employee management etc. No decision has been made about January yet.

Sounds like you haven't learned to delegate some of the work to your cops yet. You know you don't have to do everything right? And when it comes to "activity" you definitely shouldn't be doing your cops work for them. If you have a zero then let their evaluation reflect that. It's not your job to keep them afloat on the river, if they want to sink then they sink, they're grown men and women. As for coming in early to adjust roll call, great, it's why they call you SGT and pay you more now, so stop complaining. Standing at a parade with your guys? NO WAY! You're the boss, your guys SHOULD be eating before you at parades and details. Your command sounds like it has personnel issues. I know a SGT in the 113 who gets 3 hours worth of meal and breaks each night. Cut the "woe is me" sh!t, if your idea of being in a leadership role was being able to sit in a car while your guys freeze or sweat their asses off, and coming in 2 minutes before roll call with everything ready for you then you were not grounded in reality. There's a reason we work 9 hour tours. WE HAVE MORE TO DO.

ShaunNY my situation was similar. I was not put into the first bmoc but was promoted with them. I was assigned to EMD for a few months and went through the next bmoc as a Sgt. I had 4 months in rank when I reported to my PCT. It was one of my biggest wins on this job. Good luck.

Atthebottom refers to details and I agree with him in some details he is right........ I had the Christmas light detail and the Sgts and Lt's were moving barriers with the cops and detectives getting everything ready because the chief was suppose to show up soon. Funny thing to see but I respect them even more for that. At the end of the day it all depends where you end up and how you interact with your cops that will determine if you'll have it good as a supervisor or not. Good luck to all, thankfully I still got a long wait and more time to learn. To those getting made from this 2013 test PLEASE be humble and remember that at some point you were a white shield as well. biggrin

My post wasnt a "whoa is me" post.. i was trying to reply to some one else who posted something in regards to how much better it is to be a boss and thought they were going to get a brake from the BS and Grind of patrol. . . My post was supposed to counter that sentiment or shed a bit of light on it.

Promotions the 17th, then those that are promoted go back to bmoc the 21st after 500 cops get promoted to DTs on the 18th! No word on a new bmoc for Jan. 2016......just passing what I've been told by someone who's in bmoc as we speak.

We had a telephone message come down late last night for a FTO PO to report for promotion to Det. specialist and he is no where in any of the finest messages. It will probably be in the next finest

500 is a very large number. I think the most the auditorium at 1pp can fit is about a 100 promotees and their families.

Approx 370 promotions split between 3 sessions on two different days.

Wow who could be more deserving than an FTO? What a joke. Isn't this thread for 2013 Sgts and a possible January class? This used to be a credible informative forum. That has changed quickly.

That makes the most sense. Still hoping, despite the changes to personnel. MJ leaves in January and Spinella takes over.

They usually start much earlier. I am staying positive but at the same time when nothing has been said this late in the month it turns out to be a down month. I hope I am very wrong !

I was thinking they may put a large class in because of two straight months of no LTs and the first class (once they establish the new list) should be a large class.
