No shot 450 LT promoted in this first year or yearly rate. The list would be finished in 3 years
400 is a real good shot & as I explained earlier, 200-225 are going in first 3 classes. Itll slow down for sure but to hit 400-450 in year 1 isnt impossile but that being said, expect 200-250 for the next 3 years.
Well whats guaranteed is first 2 are 75 & 75. So well be at 150. 250 divided by the rest of the 10 months isnt too far fetched. 350 would be a great start to 2024. 300 is the average which kills the list in 4 years.
When is the retro dropping for current Lts. That should help with a spike in more retirements, last I heard there is about 500 Lts with 20+ years eligible to retire. Can anyone with that info actually confirm the 500+ eligible for retirement ?

Lt retro 2/16 and a 3.5% raise on 3/16. Starting Lt as of 3/16 is $135,595

Thats accurate, but ico and admin Lt will stay with 8:45 and the normal 5 days a week.
so this is not a pilot anymore? Im also hearing some people are doing 10 something tours. Any union guys here?
As of right now its a pilot program. But for it to be implemented fully city wide they need the Unions on board. 12 hour tours is for patrol. 10 hour tours is for special ops
PBA was crying for it. Now they got it. now we got it, but never asked for it. I personally do not want to spend a single minute over 9 hours in moldy department buildings.

How do the rdos work? And is 12 hours for all bureaus or just psb
You either have steady Sunday Monday Tuesday with rotating Wednesdays off
or steady Thursday Friday Saturday with rotating Wednesdays
4 on, 3 off
3 on, 4 off
so
week 1
work 12:33 Sunday Monday Tuesday wednesday
RDO Thursday Friday Saturday
week 2
work 12:33 Sunday Monday Tuesday
rdo Wednesday thursday Friday Saturday
I think thats only for platoon commanders on patrol transit and housing
so the chart is misleading. it separates plt commanders in to day and night, but they have same rdo's. Who's working the rdos? chart only shows night tour and day tour.
These numbers are mere estimates but take a look at this,
-Current Capt List has = 370 remaining - Lts with 20+yrs eligible to retire = 628 - Current Lt vacancies = 200 approximately
Totaling = 1,198 which is this entire list in 4 years. The Dept knows exactly what they are doing.
Missing a key point here. Those numbers surely make all the sense. But of course, not all of the 628 will retire.
The kicker lies in the amount of Lts that WILL REACH retirement eligibity in the coming 4 year life span of the list, to add to that 1198. That number that will be eligible in the coming years is well over 500.
So yes. For all the naysayers, the people who the department have doing projections and math, are absolutely spot on.
My prediction. List is finished in less then 4 years. Last 300 get rushed in for a Captains test, and a Lt exam wont be given for a little while after that.

Another key point just so you get the numbers right. You cant add the 628 retirement eligibility to the 370 captains. Because a chunk of that 370, are also currently eligible for retirement. Guys are going to take the promo to captain and not retire for a while that have over 20.
The math has been broken down thoroughly and carefully. In the next 4 years, almost 1700 vacancies in the rank of Lt can open mathematically. Key word being mathematically. Combination of Captains promos and retirement. Assuming all Lts eligible retire and all Captains make it of course. Of course the rate wont be 100%. But its still a high potential number.
This is NOT accounting current Sgts, who will take the rank, be on patrol for a bit, hate it and then retire and BELIEVE ME it does happen.

its constructed to work with 4 platoon commanders 2 day and 2 night. With opposite RDOs (either Sunday Monday Tuesday Or thursday Friday Saturday and you rotated the Wednesday). there are talks between union and city about upping the allotment of LTs to make this work but it wont be real until after pilot programs are over and if they decided to implement the tours citywide
