Theyve promoted every month since the list dropped. Amid a busy summer, Jouvert and UNGA.

No reason so speculate some mild protests will delay.

I usually go with Lionel and no one else. All they have done across the department is adjust tours, went back to normal tours, and then adjusted it again today. Not sure how it would have any affect on promotions

Promotions are supposed to be next week . I havent heard anything about cancellations so just sit tight. Its way too Early to assume anything. Lets all be positive and just wait to see what happens next week . Be safe out there !

FYI not all training was cancelled across the board, just Training Bureau stuff. If you were/are scheduled for any Counterterrorism Division (formerly known as Bureau) training, it is still being done.

Check the updated list thread. Remember a ton of make up people got adjusted numbers so i would think its not gonna change much with passovers, make up people etc. It looks like its around 370. 25 is a huge blow.

They are currently at 372. Four passovers are eligible for promotions. So deduct the four passovers from the 25 leaves you at 21. The 372 plus 21. List should approximately be at 393ish depending on passovers that decide to join this batch.

Small group promoted this month. If everyone remembers, when the list first came out in May personnel requested clearances for 400 new sgts. With 25-30 promoted this month plus what theyve already promoted theyre right at 400. I believe theyre satisfied for now and we probably wont see any sgts promoted until 2024. I could be wrong and am just making a rogue prediction, but it makes sense to me. Well have to wait and see.

I could see them slowing it down but stopping until next year sounds a bit crazy. With everything thats happening currently migrant crisis etc its hurting all agencies. I can tell you that precincts are super short and the vacancies are still well over 300 close to 400 so yea idk. But anything can happen lets all be positive and hope things continue moving forward.

In all honesty I see it as 1. Vacancies are being filled and 2. Sgts at this time are going straight to top pay, the city realizes this and will slow down promotions until a contract is agreed upon with the SBA and the city. The SBA wants more money because of the 12 hour tours. Heard the pilot isn't doing well, the SBA doesn't want to do it, unless we we get something out of it. SBA has the upper hand in this , and the city knows it. Maybe that's why it went down so much, but im just speculating. Maybe Lionel22 has more insight.

This makes sense, I thought the same thing when I saw those low numbers.

October is usually a hit or miss, historically November and December are a lock and are big classes, something to keep an eye on.

This is a wake up call for a lot of us. The department has clearly slowed down the promotion of sergeants and theres a possibility they halt promotions to sgt altogether given they seemed to reach their desired vacancies.

Many of us had the dream of being promoted in the foreseeable future. Looks like its not going to happen. Time to start enjoying our lives and our current commands and to stop worrying about things we cant control. Be safe everyone.
