I have a question and this is really for those following promotions much longer than I have since Ive only really been monitoring for 6months.
Had the Department ever had 2 classes in a month? Feb 1st for example and then feb 28th?
Im curious if they assess the potential for a BMOC class similarly to how we do from a monthly perspective? Im not sure if Im making sense but I might be more clear if I try to explain the potential situation that could occur. Talks are class is going on Jan 28. Lets say it doesnt start until February 1st (feb is the shortest month so this may be a bad example) but can they potentially put another class In On Feb 28th?
Is there typically a period of XX days between BMOCS at minimum? Have they had one BMOC end and another start days later?
Sorry if this is a stupid question Im expecting the worst with promotion wait times but i would just like to see what previous periods of time between BMOCS are to understand what is the fastest the department could move if it wanted to.
Good luck to everyone
I don't know about 2 classes in the same month but they have done overlapping BMOC classes where they start another class while the current class is in. I just don't know if they would do that now
So would it make sense with the two dates we have heard for promotions to be the 28th (a Friday) and BMOC to start the 31st (a Monday)?
I mean its possible but I think the dates are wrong, I think they could do say January 30th and another class like mid February, that would make sense, to start another BMOC while the other one is half way finished but like I said before I don't think they will. Because why do that now only to go back to a class every Month and a half. If they did do that though it would definitely help move this list closer to being done.

Jan 30 is a Sunday. Promotions are tentative for January 28. Tentative is the key word and no numbers have been given.
Yea I know was just using the 30th as a hypothetical nothing is tentative but like FutureAuxiliary said splitting bigger classes between two tours would work too like the 150 class. Honestly I do think the next promo is gonna give everyone some indication as too what the plan is. If they do consistently large classes then thats a good sign.
With the panel extending PERB to March 7, I think theyre giving the city time to work out a contract with PBA. This pretty much says get it done in 2 months or take what they give us.
It would surprise me very much if they promote up front prior to contract ratification. Which would save the city millions a class through career payment. Remember getting promoted on the back end was a collective bargaining agreement that the city chose to alter due to Covid. Its not going to stay that way. It was a way the city saved money through collective bargaining. Im not saying the class wont happen nor am I saying they will or will not promote up front. It would just surprise me especially when the difference of a day wait makes a giant difference in monetary value to the city. Especially when there is no reason to actually wait and to just go back to end of bmoc promos for the rank of SGT. But I do hope this class occurs and any progression is good progression. i havent heard anything personally besides this forum for this class.

Heard exactly the same numbers but the date was 1/28 (Fri)
I heard 20 captains, 60 lieutenants and 130 sergeants on the 28th from several really good sources. The 130 could have changed to 100 since it was a few days ago. Good luck to everyone.
Yes, when I was 2 weeks into a 50 person bmoc in 2016, they put in another class of 50 sgts and a class of LTs. Yes, you can have 2 classes going on at the same time

Yes, when I was in Sgt bmoc Aug 2016, they put in another 50 Sgt bmoc 2 weeks after mines started, and they also put in a lt bmoc and a capt bmoc. It depends if there is enough staffing at leadership development
Not gonna lie, I have a hard time believing 240. Bmoc doesnt have staff to accommodate from what I was told. But I know for fact more names being cleared. So two classes could be possibility but we should know by Monday latest
I believe that is the third cop who was injured. It was a three man car because one of them is brand new. So 2 cops are dead and a third is injured in surgery. It's horrible news. Please stay safe out there guys.
I believe the class was cancelled due to the unfortunate passing of one of our brothers in blue and the foreseeable needed man power in order to rightfully fill the respective precinct with other personnel as that command griefs. I have been upset in every skipped BMOC and cancellation but with this postponement I hope the 32 Precinct and all friends and family take as much time needed in order to grief and have fly-ins come do patrol for a while as they need time to properly digest everything.
Do I think it will be the following Monday? Personally..... no.
I think our brothers and sisters need more time than that. I think that its only right as cops that we do whatever we can to facilitate the most beneficial weeks to come for them. Personally, Im grateful to even be considered to get promoted at this point, but honestly I would feel guilty celebrating something knowing what other cops are going through.
These are all my opinions.
If I was a betting man I would say the 2nd or third week in February. This is based off my gut feeling and no creditable source.
