DCAS started extending lists

All eligible lists which were originally scheduled to terminate between March 16, 2020 and December 31, 2020 will be extended by one year. In addition, all eligible lists for exams for Police Officer, Police Communications Technician, Traffic Enforcement Agent and School Safety Agent which are scheduled to terminate between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021 will be extended by one year. Inquiries regarding the status of an eligible list can be e-mailed to the New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services at: LMAcustomerserviceunit@dcas.nyc.gov.

They extended the police officer list expiring in 2021, Maybe Lt and Sgt will be next?!

I mean I dont know why youd say it specifically wont apply to promotional lists. Yes, this specific order doesnt mention it, but Anything is possible in the future. I dont see why not.

Because its too early to tell. Both lists have 2 years left and ****tons of names. Now, if by mid 2021 youll  hear them announcing new promo exams -they wont extend current list

Why announce new tests if theyll extend current lists to lets say 2023?
I want all of you guys get promoted, the rank is great, Ive been a LT almost 3 years. But lets be realistic in our expectations-just because theyre extending PO lists doesnt mean theyll do the same to promotional. I hope they do though...

None whatsoever bro. hands down best rank. your number 1 concern within the cmd will be co/xo. As long as you share their vision stay on top of your plt, youll have stress free time. As a plt cmd all I did give a desk 2-3hr meal, hit the gym or read crime stats. Occasionally would go out for a scratch or respond to serious jobs

They are not extending anything did a legal conferal and the attorney said it wouldnt happen . He also stated it would open up all the doors for other city promotions exams and he further stated if that happens to have a legit lawsuit.

It's not looking good for the lists. We just have seen the tip of the iceberg of the financial crisis the city is in. There is no debating the vacancies are there, but filling them is another debate. List goes to 775 just like the 2006 list.

What financial crisis is that? A statement like that should be followed by some sort of facts. If the list only makes it to 775 its not going to be due to any financial crisis I dont think there is one.

The Citys FY 2020 general debt-incurring power of $116.27 billion is projected to increase to $123.01 billion in FY 2021, $129.93 billion in FY 2022 and $136.50 billion by FY 2023. This is a fact! Tax base is leaving NYC, business, commerce, and touriso is NON existant. You are living in a fantasy of you don't think NYC is in a financial mess. Only going to get worse.

I am sure it will continue to increase after we all become lieutenants Lol. Funny how your city crisis only affects the lieutenants list. You know what though, your figures convinced me. Im just going to walk off the job now. By the time Im eligible to retire in 4 years I would have no pension because of your crisis. Thanks for the info pal!

I believe the main focus here is that its possible.
considering They just bent a rule and extended an exam

means they can do whatever they want. As i have said 3,000 times

everyone is getting made !
the job INTENTIONALLY created a MASSIVE LIST !
And it wasn't just to cut them in half !

EVERYONE IS GETTING MADE !!!!! (opinion)

extending exam is NOW A POSSIBILITY.

doesnt effect me at all but everyones so negative its about time someone posts some POSITIVITY !

Your thoughts are 100 percent wrong. I will tell you the job had NOTHING to do w the list size. I will leave it at that. Believe me or not, I could care less.

I have no idea if the list will get extended but the list will definitely surpass 750. With the current numbers now they could promote into the high 600s if they wanted. Im in the high 700s and Im not even the slightest bit worried.

It makes sense that eventually this will extend to promo lists. I have said it before and continue to believe. They will not allow people to sit in classrooms to write tests due to fear of covid which means they wont offer one when origibally intended/scheduled. Lastly they arent able to promote at the rate they normally or usually would similar to hiring. The sgts list has 16 months left I believe. Youll know in about 4. If they extend that list all lists will be extended. And when it comes to legal action. Good luck trying to sue due to a list being extended due to a pandemic. My prediction is the list will be extended. But Ive been saying that. Costs the city less money and realistically from a legal stand point makes the most sense.

Stop with this nonsense if they do that their is many of us that will sue. Its not happening I did a conferral with an attorney and a high ranking supervisor he also agreed wont happen these guys have nothing better to do and start rumors. He also stated their has been other catastrophes in the city and they never did it opens up to many doors for previous and future exams. So can we move on and start studying again and giving false hope.

You can sue no one will stop you.  By the time its figured out the list will be completed and every one involved will be short a few grand.   All suing does is cost you money for a case you most likely wouldnt win due to a worldwide virus.  The dept is fully within its right to extend lists in regards to civil servant law 1 year at a time after the maximum 4 year term of the list.  Lastly for any one who says its never happened. Yes.  Youre correct but how many times has a pandemic happened since 1918 in your life time.  Same answer as list extensions.   Lastly in regards to catastrophes theres been none since the implementation of a passing score thats caused a list to not complete and thats irrelevant.  List by list.

List can be extended. Problem is I dont believe its ever been done before. Writing the test??? Please theres no covd concern with that. Taking the exam would be the problem. Not one person on this board has certifiable info on this topic including me so Ill leave it alone. Youll know by next year and thats all we can do

By the end of 2020 or sometime 2021 there will be a vaccine on the market.

NYPD has no say if the list gets extended. DCAS makes that decision. DCAS won't even confer with the job in regards to that decision. The job had nothing to do with the size of the list and has no say when exams are administered. All 3 list will expire and people will die on the list.

Gdass you are correct. However the job does REQUEST an exam and provide the test writers and test reviewers. That is the extent of the job requirement. I agree the job will have zero say in extensions and if you think Dcas provides any info to this job, ha!

FYI. As per the Chief of Personnel, all three promotional lists are extended 1 year. So this Lieutenant list is now good until June 2023. It is mentioned in the recent video from Commissioner Shea on the intranet.

all these 3 exams will get at least a 1 year extension

Our list was extended until 6/2023 - There was a video with the PC stating (Dated 11/2020) you can watch it yourself.  Due to COVID the list was extended.
