I forgot why ppl dont post on here. You want to complain about the job why not quit? Its the same stuff over and over how much everything sucks. Brooklyn let me tell you it doesnt get any better getting promoted. Actually it kind of gets worse. Its your crappy attitude from the beginning that actually makes you the worse boss possible. Bc instead of motivating ppl to do the best they can and taking any crappy situation and motivating your cops and backing them to do the best they can, all you would do is sit and join them and join in the misery. Yet theres a patrol guide procedure for vesting out that would solve all your problems according to you, yet here you are. Bc making the job better and motivating the cops to do the best they can while protecting them seems to be alil too much work for you Brooklyn. So be miserable Brooklyn. Ill promise you one thing as I have been a supervisor for a very long time, being miserable will get you no where on this job and dont think your cops or your supervisors will forget that misery you project. Trust me I know this job can suck at times for various reasons. Maybe instead of coming onto an anonymous forum you can actually try your best to turn it around and fix a small piece of it.

oh please bro.. the executives bought into this media **** and basically agreed that we suck, instead of fighting the mayor about the cuts they went along with it, now everyone took a big pay cut, and crime is insane ( actually matters to People who raise a family in the city). They expect cops rookie and veteran to be robots unless they will be subject to this new crazy matrix. The job bought into the hype and now sucks. Will I vest? Naaa. Not leaving that money on the table, dont have much to go, but would I encourage anyone I know to take it? never in a million years. The pride I once had is gone. Your either a DI or higher stalking a Sgt forum or are delusional.

Yes thats exactly what I meant
the job itself isnt bad its how we clearly have no back from any of the executives
no one standing up to this pathetic mayor or anything like that.
Im wondering what everyone thinks regarding the many non union employees that were put on furlough until March by DumBlasio, and whether you think it will result in promotions being delayed until then due to the negative optic created by pay raises.
Department is getting to the point where they have no choice but to promote in order to stay operational. Most commands are really understaffed for supervisors.
I heard similar as well. Big recruit class which should work wonders for promos. But I didn't feel comfortable posting because of how many times the rug has been pulled out from underneath us lately. Call me cautiously optimistic. I guess the department headcount isn't shrinking as much as some people thought.

Two guys who have had a good track record on what they say .... good stuff. No promos to Sgts and Lts suck but a class of 1100 is a step in the right direction. Those 1100 cops will need to be supervised.
if there were to be a recruit class going in, and not that I'm doubting anyone cause I do appreciate anyone having the balls to share information, but would the gym instructors know by now? Im only asking because none of the ones that I know is hearing anything at all. Also, if a class going in were to positively effect promos, would it result in promos at the end of the academy class, or would the promos happen at the start?
Wow. These are some strong words. Reasons like that are why I don't post much anymore and just keep things to myself. This message board is aggravating. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens in a few weeks.... But as I said before. I'm cautiously optimistic! :)
Its going to be interesting to see what happens to this list. Whether they will extend. I know the list expires 1-24-2022. So we have approximately 15 months left
the best indicator will be if they announce an exam in june for the end of 2020 start of 2021... if they do not announce by then it will be more than likely the dept will use this list into 2021. the worrisome part is that DCAS has announced FD promotional exams which could show that despite covid/economy, the city is still willing to administer tests
Legally they are only mandated to keep the list active for one year. After that they can kill it whenever they want. So I dont see what grounds a suit would be based upon.
I was told by FD that one of their promotional lists were extended. I don't know which rank, but that's the word. So do we know which rank in FD will have an exam coming out and is there an active list out for that said rank?
Because on DCAS, there is NO PROMOTIONAL examinations on schedule. Nor are there any on the calendar. So where did you see this?
Also on DCAS: (for entry positions)
All eligible lists which were originally scheduled to terminate between March 16, 2020 and December 31, 2020 will be extended by one year. In addition, all eligible lists for exams for Police Officer, Police Communications Technician, Traffic Enforcement Agent and School Safety Agent which are scheduled to terminate between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021 will be extended by one year. Inquiries regarding the status of an eligible list can be e-mailed to the New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services at: LMAcustomerserviceunit@dcas.nyc.gov.
Lawsuit for what? Scoring a 70 after they threw out about 10 questions? Thus why they made the list this large; to avoid lawsuits. Next exam will be announced in about 6 months. Exam in 2022.
It is highly unlikely that they will extend any list. This is unfortunate but lets face the facts. The city is broke and by giving more exams charging their 90-110$ per exam will recoup much needed money. If Im a betting man there will be new tests announced within the next 8 months

Ok so they announce an exam in 8 months. Cool. We are now in lets say JUNE of 2021. Now the city gives people what.. about 6-8 months of study time. People now take the exam in January-March of 2022. It then takes another 6 months to dispute answers, and finalize the scores. So now we are in June-Sept 2022 and then maybe just maybe put in a BMOC in Sept/Oct 2022. A solid 9/10 months of no BMOC. That is just absurd.
If the city cared to give another exam, they would have announced it by now or will announce it no later than January. Although if that was the case, we would have heard chatter by now.
So all in all. I BELIEVE there is a good chance of a 1yr extension. Could I be wrong, absolute. But the stars are aligning to an extension. All we got is 50/50.
