Are they waiting until commands are begging for more sergeants, lieutenants, and captains? Commands are so short handed. I don't see them waiting until January, that's insane.
From June 1 - July 31 202 sgts put papers in. They can disband CTTF and homeless outreach but thats a short term solution to a longer term problem. I still havent seen any news on a new test
Did you see yesterdays orders? Commands just got resupplied with sgts from cttf and homeless outreach unit.
Do not pay that attention! 2 of the sgts from homeless outreach are running time. They been running time since covid. And should be officially retired as of end of August. Its only 2 but that's how inaccurate the count is on bosses moving from units to PCT commands. I can imagine the same for CTTF a few bosses maybe running time prior to or after moving from the unit.

Not only that, but the handful of Sgts that were transferred barely makes a dent.

Resupplied? I just took a look at the order. Its 25 sgts. Thats about a weeks worth of retirements right Now. Big whoop
Exactly... not enough to make a difference. Besides after the summer is over I am sure these same Sgts and Lt's will be looking for the next gig to move on to.
I called the promotional unit yesterday to get some actual information and I was informed that there has been nothing official about there being no BMOC class for September. I was also told to get off Rising Star because it will make you want to slit your wrists.

probably october...if you are above 1600 on this sgt list...you wont get made. Sorry but true.

Heads up emails were sent out the other day from NYC Office of Management and Budget. They are requesting all city agencies to submit in detail how they will slash and save their budget by October 1st. This is 100% real.
What that means... no idea for us. What does it mean for academy class? No idea.
I think its safe to say that they won't be holding an academy class for a while...and there's no way the unions will, or should, give anything back to stave off potential layoffs. i also cant see layoffs occuring as we are already losing so many to attrition. Im curious what our manpower is right now compared to 6 months ago. gotta be down a lot

I can confirm for you that we are down approximately 1100 Umos from June 1. What I dont know is what the exact number was as of June 1.
They can force all they want, but the last of tier 2 (for the most part) have 7-8 maybe 9 years left.
I think they are referring to pushing out the Tier 2 guys who have the option of the best of 3 year average. Most tier 2 guys left can only use their final salary. I believe that contract ended 2001/2002
Overtime - The following changes are in the works and will
Be confirmed in the coming weeks,..
Intel - 30 a month for ALL investigative units. Admin personnel gets zero OT as per Finest Message/PG 205-17 Overtime. ICOs get zero OT unless they go on enforcement operations with their Borough intel teams (as approved by respective Boro COs). FIOs at precinct level only get OT off of search warrants and NOT debriefings.
DB - 30 a month....due to increase in violence citywide and lapse in cases, an exception will
be made to this Bureau. They will go back to 40 a month,..but only for investigative units such as PDUs, Narco and Gang to allow them to close these cases. Other investigative units (i.e., DBIU, RTCC, CED, CID, etc.) will go to 35 hours a month. ICOs get zero OT unless they go out on operations with Boro Narco/Gang squads. DB admin gets zero overtime...theyre not investigating,..
Patrol/Housing/Transit - No OT for admin positions (ICOs, Admin LT, SOL, Training Sgt, Traffic Sgt, etc.). Only ARREST OT,....
SOL - will oversee the following units:
NCO - will become intimately familiar in their daily operations and will work more closely with them regarding quality of life conditions.
Neighborhood Response Team - new unit.
Domestic Violence Sgt, Traffic Sergeant and Training Sergeant.
Final touches will come down in the coming weeks.
Admin Lt - Will work closely with CO and Crime Analysis Sergeant regarding the allocation of personnel. Will no longer oversee Training Sgt and Traffic Safety Sgt.
ICOs - Will be reassigned to each respective Boro,...they will report directly to the Boro Adjutant. No OT unless theyre assigned to Crime Suppresion details. Assistant ICOs will cover patrol at least two days out of the week (Desk Officer, Patrol Supervisor, Details etc.) to cover manpower in each respective command.
Transfers - No transfers until after Labor Day. There will be executive movement in the coming months.
IAB - Theyre not picking up from next SAB boards (So put in your apps NOW LOL!!!). They picked from the last SAB board (Oct & Dec SAB boards).
Boro/Bureau Investigations - 35 hours a month. However, 1/3 of their Sergeants will go back to Patrol. Temporary transfers to these units were REVOKED as of July 1, 2020. These Sergeants/Lieutenants will be sent back to patrol (good for them lol).
RMB - Theyre revamping how they monitor personnel. Details are in the works.
No changes for managers (Chiefs) in the near future.......
From the Academy: As of right now promotions are expected to pick back up due to shortages. APD is processing applicants for October but instructors at academy have been told no class till July 1,21. They do not believe this will be possible due to the sheer retirement numbers but this is what the instructors at the academy were told. Hope this helps and hope promotions do continue For all ranks.
City council submitted for plan to lay off 4100 uniform members of nypd. I dont know if this includes 2k that has retired yet or not. They are going after everyone on probation or w less then 5 years service
I bet changing peoples days off is a way to push out tier 2.
If you have over 20 years and this forces you off before you want to thats weak. Also there is still another 8 or do years of tier 2 guys before they can retire. I wanna say tier 3 started in 09?
