listen to that interview. so no top pay in 1 year. if we get promoted before march i gather what hes saying is that were going to be stuck on the same pay scale for 4 years. wow.
A class in the first quarter of 2018 is realistic. Idk what the actual overage of sgts is right now. 270 in just a couple months was certainly a lot but regular attrition through retirements and promotions will bring that level down within a few months. A couple of months ago I ran into someone who is involved with BMOC and he mentioned possibly one more class off the 2013 list. I've heard conflicting info about that though. Some say it'll happen, others are saying the list is pretty much dead. IMO anyone on that list who got passed over for something not career ending should be promoted. If you get collared off duty or got jammed up on this job for some sort of gross misconduct then so be it. But a lot of people were getting passed up for nonsense CCRB charges. Some guys on this forum will get made within the first few classes so these may be your last months as a cop, just keep your noses clean. I did very well on the test and I'm eager for that list just like everyone else. If there is one last small group off the 2013 list I don't believe it would have any effect on when the first class will be made off our exam. It would be a very small group.

Doubt it. New contracts should fix the problem so worst case scenario you'll be stuck until the new contract kicks in
Why is anyone on here even concerned about what step they'll be on if promoted to Sgt and how many years they'll be stuck there. First of all it's highly unlikely they'll be promotions before 4/18, which will make this all mute. Secondly if for some reason they do hire prior to 4/18 and you go to the third step, or which ever step it is, and you stay there for 3 years, you're still coming out ahead.
im not concerned at all about the pay. i posted that because now that we know were not going to hit top pay after one year in rank then i think theres a better chance we may start getting promoted before next april. I think there was a zero percent chance the city/job wouldve started promoting us before next april if we hit top pay after a year. that wouldve created a pension nightmare if guys hit top pay in a year. now i feel a little more optimistic about this list coming out sooner and getting promoted before next april!! but who knows. its a waiting game now.
The whole point of the steps is to make them small (insignificant) so that unions pay partially for their raises. The real loss to the city would be to have to jump hundreds of Sgts to top pay within a year. Not skipping from step 1 to 3 (2-3k is peanuts compared to top pay jump), as long as it's a 4 year wait they still get the majority (98%) of the give back benefits. Atleast all that law suit talk will go away from the 2-4 year Sgt's as they now know that they are all stuck on the same boat (you always were btw). I don't see the pension nightmare angle just the mess of rookie Sgt's hitting top pay before 2-4 year ones would be ugly since we all saw the legal talk and such by them. I do understand, I guess I would also feel cheated if a rookie hit top pay before me not sure what I'd do probably nothing... Just chalk it up to FUBAR.
I really don't get it. We are human beings, we have suffered from studying for one year, yet DCAS treats us like we are some POS. Delaying the list as if they like seeing us go through this stress of waiting. Any human being will feel this impatience and eagerness.

I'm not making excuses for them.
but you have to understand the protest session is supposed to relieve a lot of the stress until final scores come out.
also, let's not be completely full of ourseleves, there are MANY other exams going on as well. Maybe not 13,000 people exams
but definitely more than 500 On some of them for sure. So they lose mangement on our big shot test scores and come back to
it like a revolving door. I waited 8 months for my sergeant score. Its traditional and expected and I'm currently waiting JUST like
you for my Lt score. None of these delays are anything new. Things become easier in life when you expect less and understand
that not everything is as simple as it may seem. Think like the public vs law enforcement. "Why dont cops just shoot the bad
guys gun out of his hands" how many of us heard this before. Sounds easy right ? My point is... yes the system absolutely
sucks and it must change. But this isnt anything new. DCAS needs sufficient technology upgrades. The same way the NYPD does
and is slowly getting it here and there. Were used to getting everything within 2 paychecks or within 1 netflix and chill date.
this is the one and only time where you literally have to wait for it. Not bad % considering how many times in life we get what
we want approximately when we want it. (Talking about routine normal and reasonable items. Not a ferrari or a mansion)
Anyway,
Take a deep breath because everything will be okay.

The 2009 Sergeant Exam was taken in February of 2009. The list was released in August or September of 2010, 16 months later. Better relax, because you might be waiting a lot longer.
I received the same reply as far as the # of protests. After thinking about it I dont see how that number is even realistic. Almost everyone I know who went to the protest didnt submit a single protest. Im thinking DCAS maybe sent the # of people who actually attended the PRS or applied for it. Either way that info brings us no closer to a list. Hopefully October brings good news.
Hmm, interesting point Reds. However, I could believe it being that many protests submitted probably because most of us score in the 70's and high 60's.. I honestly hope those who need the few points to pass get it. Let's see what October brings. "The End is Near. Good Luck to all."
Oh **** you got a side piece in dcas? She got a sister ? Put me on trying to find out my official score. I heard the same thing from a perp I collared that it will be out and his wife works at dcas
I don't know why you are blasting me for no reason. I'm just passing along information I heard, never claimed it as fact. I passed, I'm just trying to help other people and give them hope. Good luck to you and everyone else.

LOL @ no big deal...those comments come from people who are cops for 20 plus years in the same command, working the same tour and same sector their whole career.
