What happens if .....?

I am currently in the mid 100s on the 2013 list. If I leave to go to Suffolk and then decide I want to come back to nypd will my name still be active on this list ? Thanks

No because hopefully Leftak would catch that an insane person employed by Suffolk County wants to be an NYPD sergeant.

In all seriousness, leaving the department would mean discontinuing your eligibility on the SGT list. Leaving and coming back only restores you to your former title, which is Police Officer. If they reach your name on the 13 list and you are not employed by the NYPD, you will be removed from the list because employment with the NYPD and in the rank of PO is a prerequisite for becoming SGT. If you get made to SGT and THEN leave and come back, you would be restored as a SGT. Be careful, it's not always easy to leave and come back but if you're leaving for Suffolk then who cares.

If you leave the job then come back before the LIST expires, you get promoted whether your number was skip or not.

i know of that happening to a police officer to sergeant and a lieutenant to captain.

Stay in shape, pass the academy and stay in Suffolk !!! Never look back, Suffolk is significantly better than this circus.
