what can hold you up on a list ?

Just curious if any one can provide reliable reasons why someone can get passed over on a list besides not having enough time. I know a really bad evall (below 3.0) can hold you up. How about CD's? SICK records? Lawsuits? Basically can anyone provide a list of things that would hold you up? Also any tips/advice to prevent being passed over?? I have no negative sick, or disciplinary records but I want to be aware of everything that .ca be negative. Thanks in advance for the replies.

you can be held up if you have had a IAB log opened against you. When a log is open it either stays with IAB or it gets bumped down to inspections or your command. You can either be the subject of the investigation or a witness.fyi you won't know if you have a open case until you get called down or you get passed up for promotion.

2.Pending cd/charges

3.eeo

I know this because I've been on the chopping block a couple of times.Good Luck

What kind of BS is that...you dont know if you have an open IAB log ??? I am assuming you must know something ! And I didnt know a CD would hold you up? I always thought/heard you wont get passed over for a simple CD...Bu for charges you will.

Thanks for the input QueensFinest!

Also which happens but not as frequent is ppl who don't have enough credits to get promoted like guys who did only 60 credits to get on or the military guy who did two yrs service instead of college

Your cd has to be adjudicated. When your number is about to get called for promotion they send a request to a couple of places 1.your command asking for any pending disciplines

2.IAB

3.INspections

This is what is known as "the round robin"

And yes most of the time you won't know.Tons of people get passed over and can't figure out why until they are called for a GO15

I didn't get held up for my promo but I knew a few who were passed over.
To echo Queensfinest's comments...some of em had no goddamn idea why they got held up.

Even being a witness can hold you up?? That doesn't sound right, does it? The way things are here it wouldn't surprise me, but it doesn't sound right......

The credits from the PA dont count unless you get a real school to put them on a transcript and have that school send an official transcript to educational tracking.

My partner used Excelsior College to combine both his college credits and the Police Academy credits into 1 transcript and had it sent to the Education unit at the Academy. Costs about $300.

Is that right? Just being a witness in an investigation into somebody else will hold you up? Wouldn't that make whole squads witnesses to a ton of open IAB cases?
