RE: 2013 Updated List

Well he is a real good test taker. He was in the top 10 on the 2011 sgt's test, but he died on that list.

Any idea why #1 was pulled from BMOCC? Everyone is so curious. My friend worked in Transit with him, and no one knows. 1 day he is in BMOCC and next day on a transit foot post.

The rumor going around is that he scammed/cheated to get the score he got. Supposedly he was a make up test taker and scammed and I guess he had a few haters who dropped an allegation on him. Moral of the story is don't fcuking cheat, IAB does in fact investigate those types of allegations and in his case, it seems to have doomed his promotion.

How can they prove that besides a high score?

Idk maybe you're an arrogant fcuk who likes to brag then I'm sure you would do enough bragging to all the wrong people and that's when it will come back to bite you in the ass. If you think you're cool because you pulled a scam and you think people who worked their asses off to pass a test wouldn't take the first chance they had to make you choke on your arrogance, then you're in for a shock. People who earn their scores generally hate the people who scam for theirs.

Article about one of the Passovers. It's long, but worth reading.

It's all rumors, we are our worst enemies. I Know the guy. He took the exam same day as everyone else. And was taking out of BMOC for other reasons. It's the way the job is...

i stopped reading at, "recorded other."  Bad enough the woah is me race card bullish!t, throw in recording other cops on top of it. Fock him and everyone that thinks like him.  He has no business being a boss on this, or any job. As my favorite line from The Departed says, the world needs plenty of bartenders.

You can take your Vacation no problem.  As long as you don't miss one of the "must attend days" like taser training, etc..

I was able to take vacation in January class as long as you have it as a pick.  But like Det said, you can't miss the must attend days which are taser, edp, and another one which slipped my mind.  Benefit of a big class is that they split the class into two for taser and other trainings so you'll have a chance to make it up.  If there is a small class though, there might be only one class for those must attend trainings. You won't know what days the trainings are till the second or third day in, and they possibly can change.  Good luck, hope that helped Noll

Someone actually asked the instructor at Phase 1 this exact question yesterday. Basically, if you've made plans, ie: airline & hotel booked, just show them the documentation and they will work around it. The only thing the instructor reiterated was that you won't be able to complete BMOC if you missed more than a week. If you miss more than a week, they'll still promote you but you'll be hanging around with the next BMOC class, but as a Sgt.

I'll be optimistic and say mid 400s. The Lt list fiasco being adjudicated helps considerably. I'll also predict one class this year at maximum capacity...i.e 100 give or take a few. No I don't have any sources. Just a guess. I'd say the 100 class will come a month or 2 after they start putting Lieutenants in.

We already had 3 months down, if they keep promoting each month starting from June, with an average 40 sgts per class, I expect the list to be down to around 450 or so by end of December, not including Passovers.

This may not be the best place to post this question, how long can you defer your promotion to Sgt when your list comes up, I was just put on track, and I expect to get promoted in about 7 months. Can I postpone my promotion for 11 months until I get a detective shield? Thanks

Yes you can. I dont know who you need to contact but i would start with uniform promotions and be guided by them. This is fairly common.

A 49 to dcas and uniform promotions to take your name temporarily off the list for personal reasons. Then once your ready a phone call to uniform promotions and dcas and you'll be promoted next promotions (as long as list is still active) and go to top pay. Congrats and good luck.

I had the same concerns but luckily this list took forever and I got made....anyways I was always asking people and I heard from multiple people you can defer for only a couple of times (2-3) I could be wrong but please please ask someone who matters so that you Dont get the wrong info....take a ride to 1pp and the academy to make sure you have the most recent and correct answer....good luck on both promotions

Elite Strategic Training says the list is on number 342. Is that right? It seems like way too high a number.

I did like a rough count myself...I was off by 20 to 25 names...no way there was 25 Passovers or retirees or people who left the department but the highest number I got to where the name matched the number and the order was 338

Probably a lot of guys on track that are close to their gold shields. Because once you get your Det shield you will jump to top Sgt pay. Otherwise you would have to wait 4 years to reach top Sgt pay. So it makes total sense to defer the promotion, 4 years is a loooooong time.
