A year and a half is a really long time with no complications like lawsuits or a lot of throwouts/doubles to manipulate the list size. Most Sgt lists take 6 months to a year to get established and begin promotions.
True, but most list do not have 600 people still eligible for promotion off of a prior list either. Unless they cut the 2011 list, there will not be anyone hired off of this list until 2015.
Actually they are barely halfway through the 2011 list. I think they are up to list# 920, but skipped around 40-50 people, so they are really still just in the high 800+ range of actual promotions and a list of 1663. So unless the list is cut, you guys will not start getting promoted at the current rate until like summer/fall of 2015.
I have no inside on information on a list cut and have been attacked many times on these boards by those that refuse to even accept the possibility of a list cut. No Sgt list has been cut since 2003 which had a similar list size to the current list, but much worse scores with no "passing" 70 grade mandate at the time.
If the list does get cut, maybe you will see promotions somewhere between, spring/summer 2014, but if no cut, you guys are going to wait forever. Waiting for list#1663 seems like ages from now...
Phase 1 for the early 1400s on the 2011 list goes in dec 16. They're not cutting anything. I'll bet the 2011 list is fully made by February 2015 and that is when they start promoting off the 2013 tests list. It's not a long wait at all. they have steadily promoted 550-600 people every 12 months for years. The 2011 list is only 20 months old and they are at 919. I'm willing to bet no list is cut. And it looks like the job is at least investing training at this point into the 1400's Which means they want a return on their invested training. Which translates to those in phase 1 definitely getting promoted. Most likely the intent would not be to cut the last 200 people which adds up to only 3 more classes after 1400.

Think it's very cruel people are hoping the 2011 list will be cut short so they can start with the new list. We are our own worst enemies, encouraging job for bad practices for our own petty gains.
No one is hoping the list gets get. People are just looking for a timeline. Truth is no one knows what's going to happen in the next year. Recent lists have not been big at all in the 600-800 range. The 2011 list was double that size.
So now it's two years + and the 11 list is little over half way promoted. That's over 700 cops that are eligible. We haven't had anything like this in a long time. From what I've heard, the 2003 list was also very long and what happened? It was cut. It's also important to note that the 03 list wasn't a 70 passing and many were promoted with what would be failing scores today.
Where does that leave us? It's anyone's guess. To say it definitely will get cut is just as silly as saying that it definitely won't. I think it's highly unlikely, but still plausible.
Back to the cruel part. I think if you are after #1250 on the 2011 list, you were crazy not to take this one. Why chance it? Also, show me the cop that would pass up a promotion because the last list was cut and it's cruel to them.

Petty gains? Getting promoted is not a petty gain, it's a lifetime achievement. Getting the test thrown out because you couldn't finish it, now THAT would be petty.
No one hopes the 11 list gets cut!! I want another year as a midnight cop to make lots of $ before my pay cut lol my buddies got their phase 1 letters so the whole list is going in!! All we have to do is wait
Just my opinion but I think they banked on this 2013 test being very small so they will go through the whole 2011 list. But a lot of peeps got the phase one letters that were on the 1400 range which makes sense if they promote 60-70 a month untill April which leaves 200+ maybe being cut?? What do you think? And only time will tell. In getting stupid psycho with this crap I gotta chill lol
I think they will finish the whole list and you guys will just be waiting around a while. Didn't the same crap happen to the 2009 Sgt exam? They had to wait a long time for the 2008 sgt exam to finish.
