PROTEST REVIEW SESSION!! I got my appointment

READ THE LETTER CAREFULLY.

"You may also bring and submit a copy or the original of any reference material and/or supporting documentation that you feel will help substantiate your protest(s). Howeve, copies of your materials/documentation cannot be made during the PRS, nor will anything submitted with your protest(s) be returned to you. You may not bring handwritten notes to the PRS, nor will you be permitted to remove any handwritten notes that you may have made during the PRS."

So basically, bring your PG and all other reference material and be prepared to lose your originals....

What a joke.

I got my appointment letter for the PRS in the mail today; November 30th, 2013 at the same testing location as the exam.

To clarify any confusions...

  • The protest review Session is the only place you can view the proposed answer key for our exam
  • Meaning there WILL BE an answer key...

I wont be able to make protest session. Prior travel arrangements. Can someone ensure they protest the pursuit question. The answer was i believe additional units may be requested by the officers in the primary unit or by a supervisor, if it appears that officers in the vehicle involved would not be able to safely effect the apprehension of the suspects. that's the semi word for word patrol guide answer. Or it said any supervisor something along those lines. That has to be a semi **** up in patrol guide cause there no way just any supervisor can authorize that. So technically according to patrol guide a civilian supervisor at Communications Division can authorize additional unit.. no way would fly.. Its not specific or detailed enough question i think. Has to at minimum say UMOS supervisor or something.

Yea just got mine also on saturday 11/30 at fdr high school at 1000 hours. But explain how the hell we are supposed to bring the patrol guide and submit copies for review? This is why we needed the teachers from elite, fast track, rising star, and the key to have been able to take the test and help us protest. They know the guide inside and out, we dont.

You are not alone...I'm in the Bronx as well and have to make that road trip...it sucks that its on a holiday weekend...they don't have any regards for those of us who have made plans or will be out of town for the holiday.  I guess DCAS do not have a life!!

You bring your copy of your patrol guide and be prepared to tear out the relevant pages and give it to them to keep.

What is the deal with the proposed answer key? Can we take them home after the protest or will someone sneak it out? Those that are not rdo can not attend during the day tour..is anything going to be fair involving this damn test?

We'll I plan to mark the answers on my green sheet. Now that sheet belongs to us, unless they say we can't do that. Either way I'll figure something out. I have a few guys at my command that can't go, so I have to find a way to get them the answers.

Be careful of doing that. The protest appointment letter is very specific in saying that you are not allowed to remove any handwritten notes made during the session. You may run the risk of having your entire green sheet removed from you if you do that.

The 93 sergeant exam they were given 8 hours to do 156 questions. In addition to that the whole test would be curved they would hire people who got a score in the 50's before other points were added. They didn't need a 70. I spoke to an old boss  who said the exams in the 80's  were different they were 8 hours to do anywhere from 140-160 questions in 8 hours and then there was a  seperate part of the exam you did on a second day.

You're probably right, but that's not the same as writing the correct answer next to it.

You don't have to prove anything to anyone
No clue why you would go the lengths to care about opinions and post your assumed score
I could care less if you scored a 69 or 105.

You are one of the biggest crybabies I have ever seen in my life. You failed. Get over it. Nothing is going to change that. Stop cutting and pasting your sob stories in every thread. It's annoying. This isn't the 80s or 90s. They can change the test whenever they please and alter the standards as they please as long as they inform you of it; which they did. Wipe the tears out of your eyes and go on living your life.

Hey i started a thread called "protest review questions...strategy time" , mainly for posting questions that we want to protest along with the source of the material if anyone cares to contribute.

I physically went to Dcas for my scantron answer key on Monday and they said it will be mailed to my house before the protest review session, which still has failed to arrive.

It clearly states in the protest procedure letter that Dcas mailed to me that we have 30 days from the protest review session to submit protests by mail if we so choose, with 4 copies of your written protest for each question, along with 2 copies of the supporting documentation. We are going tomorrow to see what we scored first and foremost. since most likely no one will bring in the encyclopedia that we call a patrol guide, this is used to our advantage to check the questions that we think were unfair, try hard to remember them as best as can be, and then submit the protests by mail to:

protest Dcas bowling green station P.O. Box 974 NY, NY 10274-0974.

Once they receive your protests and post the exams eligible list, Dcas will then invite those who submitted protests to attend the test validation board. Don't get discouraged, we are in this together and have no help from the experts who taught our high priced classes. We need to collaborate our protested questions, we have power in numbers and our voices must be heard (braveheart moment).

Judge,  Arrow is one person and has been posting since about an hour after the session was scheduled to start. Nothing on this job ever starts on time either. So if he was there he wasnt there long.  I'd wait till actual people that did the protest session in full actually post something. Don't stress it. Even if they did take green sheets I'm sure somebody is smart enough to write answers on there patrol guide or something along those lines.
