Truth of the matter

This just my opinion ... But I don't think much will come out of this. Just like the LT exam flop. But I wish everyone of you good luck. On my way to the Post Office to mail my protest so I can at least get my score in 5 weeks. And have some closure to this never ending ordeal

This exam sucked. I too spent way too much time preparing. Way to much time away from my kids. But the cold hard truth is we all got the same unfair shake at it and that in turn makes it all In all honestly ..." fair " . I did all the technical knowledge first ( my plan prior) and then got screwed with 45 Min to go for the in basket.. Some people got screwed the opposite way. I feel for all of you.... But after a few days of calming down this is my rational opinion... Let's see where it goes at the protest. e Everyone take a deep breath and enjoy your families.

Here are my two cents... after thinking about it all. There is a possibility that they just throw out the 30 most incorrect answers... Why you ask? well think about it this is just going to make everyone have a higher ended score... so promotions will be with a lot of people who scored 100-80 rather than promoting people who like in the passed have scored 80-70 which is a low ended scores... for the public it sounds better... for downtown, it sounds better... "look our sergeants that we are promoting are scoring 100s and 90s"... as oppose to the other years where they were barely passing and getting promoted.... i think they are changing the fact that just "passing" the test is not good enough anymore...

now this is my 2cents.. biggrin

We will get a proposed answer key, which according to DCAS will only have the 100 questions they are actually grading.  You then compare your answers you wrote down and took home to it.

there is also an option for you to mail DCAS informing them that you want a copy of your scantron at the protest.

Here's what is going to most likely happen.  More than the usual are going to attend the protest screaming about the time constraint and the number of questions.  The DCAS people there are going to say something along the lines of, "We are not here for that.  We are here to protest specific questions."  They are then going to pass out the proposed answer key, with the thirty research questions, which were placed throughout the exam, just like the test said they would be,  removed.  The protest process will take place as normal.  Months from now everyone will receive their official score, and list # if they passed, in the mail from DCAS.  The list will be established and people will get promoted.  A year or two or three down the road there will be another sergeant exam.  After the exam people will scream how it was unfair, have petitions signed, and swear lawsuits.  Continue loop forever.

HAS ANY OF THE KEY INSTRUCTORS COMMENTED ABOUT THE EXAM????  THERE WERE 6500 PEOPLE WHO TOOK THE TEST, THE FAIREST THING TO DO IS THROW OUT  30 WRONG ANSWERS FROM EVERYONES EXAM.  THIS WILL MAKE THE LIST PROBABLY 3000 NAMES LONG BUT NO ONE COULD SUE, WHINE, OR BITCH ABOUT THINGS BEING UNFAIR. LET DCAS AND THE NYPD HIRE THE HIGHEST 1500 PEOPLE OFF THE LIST THEN CUT IT. I SPOKE TO THE GUY WHO CREATED THE KEY COURSE ON CRAM 3 OF THE SGT CLASS AND HE SAID HE SPOKE TO THE HEAD OF DCAS ABOUT THE EXAM AND THEN SAID TO ME MAKE SURE YOU FOCUS ON THE FIRST 100 QUESTIONS ONCE YOU FINISH THOSE DONT LEAVE THE OTHER QUESTIONS BLANK JUST TRY TO GET TO THEM.

As opposed to prior to 2005 they were hiring with no scores? Or just because someone fit a specific race bracket?

Yeah ok. Ill believe that.

I definitely agree with Wingnut, its a vicious cycle and only seems to be getting worse. Makes you wonder whats next and what else DCAS got up their sleeves
