Good evening everyone, I am opening this new thread hoping (STICKY) that anyone from the LT forum can help us out every now and then and keep us updated on the current #s of people retiring and going on terminal leave... Hopefully this will help us out to determine, make an educated and informed guess on what will the future weeks, months will have for us. This should help hundreds of cops out there waiting to be made.

P.S. Lets kèep this thread for informational purposes only and refrain ourselfs from:

-starting or entertaining any trolls about this list getting axed.

-Getting into disputes of "based on statistics and previous tests, I think this will happen".

I can honestly say to anyone from the LT forum with any information pertaining to Sergeant's retirements and terminal leave that this cop and hundreds of others will be more than grateful with any information being shared with us.

The one that returned two days ago told me he was probably going to leave in January. Needs next years vacation days to "fix the bank". ;)

Thanks jook. That october number keeps getting better and better. Throw in a captain promotion and we could be looking at either 2 more classes before years end or one large class in December. Unborn, please update the list when you get a chance

Sorry, messed that up. We'll be at -10 and 39 by the 5th of October, assuming no additions or subtractions.

-7 and 40. A few went out and another one withdrew papers.

With those #s it looks like a class in november....

I tried to do it before, but someone said that captains don't have a set number, so we really can't depend on that to estimate class sizes.

Are these waves of retirements only a temporary thing and come next year it will go back to the average #'s leaving and the list slowing back down to normal? Or are there big classes from 1994 or whatever set to retire next year also and this will be the norm now from here on out??

Yes.  There was also an article in 2012 stating that over the next few years, the department is slated to lose 10,000 MOS via retirements:
