Class size doesn't matter. If they do 30 in April then we can probably expect a back to back class in may

This is beautiful. Lets not forget the 16 captains they plan on doing as well. Looks like we are looking at back to back months of promos

They posted in the Sgt.'s forum that OMAP is calling for 225 Lieutenants by year end because of so many retirements. Don't want to get my hopes up, but good news

225 more from now to the end? Or total for the calendar year?

Thats some great speculation from OMAP. Haven't seen them project a need of personnel with such a high range, but hope it's true.

The 225 is a bold claim to make. I think most of us here have been around long enough to know that the job does not anticipate anything that far ahead. It's pretty much a month by month basis.

I hear you MNfive....But OMAP also knows the anticipated number of retirements. Which is why they know when to schedule another exam. So hopefully that's the case here

I'm in the high 400's, so I would love for that to be true

I do agree with MNfive-O. I have spoken to a few folks in OMAP and they have never given me a projection that far in advance. It does appear to be driven by a monthly basis. No one really can confirm if the Lieut's who are on terminal, will not decide to withdraw their papers. I'm a bit skeptical about that projection.

By the way good luck trying to get any info from a Lieut in OMAP, because they have already been studying for a month!

Someone posted the breakdown of Lt on terminal leave. It appears not enough of them will be gone to have May class.

I'm sure the same OMAP group that got in the 1st class have got the inside track on when the test was being annonced. So they are doing the same thing they did for the Lieut's exam and study on job time! Anyone with the ability to study all day on job time will do well.

That breakdown of lieut's who are on terminal reflect a static #. As more of them file their papers that # will change. Most who have been in a detail have filed for retirement some time in the past and consumed all their terminal leave time, then came back on the job. They then do the OT with no terminal leave, and retire just they put their papers in.

It is a sad truth that many people who have already become lieutenants from the 2011 test did have inside gigs. I guess all of us street cops will just have to wait till they get to us so that we can also start studying for the upcoming captains test. Btw I know that there are many sergeants who are already studing for it...

The street cop has to fight twice as hard, that's why u can't forget where you came from. Moving up and becoming the boss u looked up to when you were a cop is what its about. Real bosses comes from the streets. Those who push pencil and papers all their career lay awake at night wondering if the C.O. will call them into the office the next day and chew them out for giving hard working cop the day off.

Im thinking there is no way an additional 225 lts will be hired by year's end....not that Im not hopeful but it has never been that many lt promotions given in a single year since Ive been otj. I think that rumor was wishful thinking.

Administrative and clerical bosses stand behind their cops.  Street bosses stand beside their cops.

so with 0 vacancies does that mean no chance of a may class? Or does the terminal # make it possible?

To make such a prediction is the same as saying there will definitely be a promotion in June. There's is no way to make such a prediction when things change daily. Not to say Tiger is wrong, just saying he might be. Historically there has been promotions in the summer mainly because its usually the time guys retire. So if anything, I think it would be more likely we will see promotions in the upcoming months. Just saying...

All signs are pointing to a June class. Between Brats info and the current vacancies, it looks like a go
