With the 28 getting promoted we will be at +11 and 34 by the end of the month. Assuming no changes, we will be at -13 and 10 by the end of the year. Hopefully we get another Capt class by the end of the year so we can get one more Lt. promotion before 2015. Anybody with info on that?

The vacancy numbers don't look great but they haven't promoted capts in a few months.. I doubt there will be a group in nov but I'm hoping they put in another class in dec..

According to Jooky, we will be -13 by the end of December. So if they do 12 Captains, we could see a class of 25 LTs in December. As much as I want a large class, the numbers just arent there Mayweathergyrl

i would rather a class of approx 40 in Jan instead of 25 in December.........hopefully some old school Lt's will be too cold and lazy in the brick winter to want to come to work and out they papers in......lol

Jooky, you had posted that there are 9 that are set to retire in 2014. I have never used PEMU, but I was curious. Are the number of retirements not broken down by month yet?

Yes the exact date of scheduled retirement is listed. I manually break it down by month, sometimes to the day, depending on the requests of the pushy a-holes on this site.

Someone at my command has also mentioned that. Considering what the vacancy and terminal numbers are, it wouldnt be far fetched to say that there will be no LT promos in Nov and Dec (even if there are Capt. promos). At the very least, lets hope they make up for it and do a large class of 35-40 in January

Still believe next year continues an agressive retirement trend.

There are a couple of variables to consider. Keep in mind, there is a large retirement class going out this upcoming February. I think its another 2500. When retiring, you need to give the job 30 days notice. In most cases retirees use their terminal leave during this period. I believe going into November and December you will start seeing more people filing for retirement. They will need to run their time to get them to Feb and they will need to burn their fresh 27 vacation days picked up in January.

Another factor to consider is Kelly will most likely leaving with a new mayor. Don't be surprised to see 1 more class this year especially if there are a few pretty close to promotion that are owed political favors.

theres only 24 Lts left on the current Capts exam. that doesnt look good either. No Lts retiring and Lts to be promoted to capts. sucks

Yea but by the time those 24 get promoted, the new Capt list will be established. So Capt. promos will remain steady

saw another one today in the finest, also it seems at least 1 more Lt. will retire assigned to bloomberg, when he leaves office. Read something in a paper. I think we'll have a december class!

Brat and everyone else may be studying for Captain.....those of you who are....the best of luck...hopefully after.....we will get some solid info from those who been on point on this board......Abeyance.....a XMAS class sounds good but if its small i rather a january class with at minimum 35......bc if they promote 20 in december they may not have another class for a while.....but either way.....will be good for the list to keep moving.

I was told that there is a large number of LT retirements for February and March, due to a large class that went in February of 1994. However, the numbers dont reflect it yet because most won't put in their papers until December or January. The source has been right before, take it for what it is.

On another bright note, if they promote captains in December, it looks like LT promos are likely for December as well. -16 and a class of Captains (depending on how many they do) will give us a LT class of 26-31

the current terminal #s definitely dont reflect all those that are getting ready to put their papers in. Jooky does a great job with that, but its only one variable to consider. I think right after the new year, a lot more will be leaving!

For there to be LT promos, they would need to do Captains. Considering the last Capt. promo was August, a Capt. promo is due. Hopefully we hear something late this week or early next week
