642 Lts out of 1218 have been promoted as of 12/19/2025 in less than 2 years.. More than half. There's just 576 left. They will blow thru this list by September. So everyone just start studying for captain.
I'm in the same boat, it would be hard to justify giving up 8 months and neglecting family to have a slight chance of maybe being able to take the test, especially with the announcement that the test could happen in September.
Lets see what January looks like, this could give us a good idea. But I agree with the post above I feel like theyre gonna burn through this thing. Well deserved this test was hard.
They cleared more than they promoted last class, clearing 75 More Lieutenants is definitely a good indicator of a nice sized class. Time will tell but 2026 is looking good With vacancies and class sizes. And thank you for posting updated info. things can change but you guys have been accurate with those #s.
After seeing all last years discretionary promotions it seems like the PC is still following the play book of the regimes. A few people get it based on the grid. The rest are phone calls. They asked for grid and money paper work early this year. But this PC saying its going to be based off merit and those who are put in, the lie detector determined that was a lie. I stand by my prediction...anywhere between list number 700 to 750 is a safe bet for the August/September Captain exam. Anything above 750 will be cutting it dangerously close.
