Lol funny how people go straight to details. Jobs a joke
Some (not all) of those people have a specialty or have earned their spot after a long career. Yeah so eff it let's throw them back on patrol. Makes sense.

956 tax#'s barely made 10 years. They haven't had long careers yet.
I do agree with people with special skills being retained (like PDU or intel) but WTF kind of special skill does someone in School Safety Investigation have?
Squad Sgt and Lt are two completely different positions.
I think calling them *completely* different positions is far from accurate. They are very similar, and retaining a competent squad sergeant upon their promotion to Lieutenant is a no-brainer. I would bet that most squad sergeants could seemlessly transition to squad commander. They will already know how to quickly and effectively handle detectives, how to run investigations, how to work with other units, agencies, and prosecutors. The alternative would be taking a lieutenant from patrol and have them handle these drastically different duties and responsibilities. Of course one could, but a crappy squad commander is going to sink real fast.
If we look back from the older years april is hit or miss and then the whole summer is spotty until all out is done. From may till now almost 620 going through. That list is moving pretty decent.

I feel like 3 years is a stretch... i'd say they get through about 400 - 450 this year, and then it slows back down to about 300 a year after that.
Just my gut.
Your saying 3 years is a stretch but just described the list being done in 3 years. 450 in 2024, 300 in 2025 and 300 in 2026 brings the list to 1050 out of 1218. Damn near finished.

Like I said.. At this rate, they'll finish with that whole list. Get ready to start studying for captains
0 vacancies after this promotion 15 Lt on terminal 24 vacancies for LDS 10 vacancies for LSA

Yep some promotions to DI would help as well since that should open up some captain promotions. I remember seeing somewhere that there are some DI vacancies
