Theres no more Covid so this list wont go on for more than 4 years. I say this list cuts off at 900. Sergeants list will be cut and captain list will be cut.
This is a pointless thread. A lot can happen in 4 years and there is no point to be thinking anything is getting cut when the first class hasn't even gone in.

Theres a bigger picture in all of this, this entire forum is pointless. You have hundreds of people checking a site with no intelligence. No one knew crap here until dcas dropped the list. Everything til this point was mere fabrication. Good thing Im top 10.
The biggest issue for these lists is the lack of 5 academy classes going in coupled with the man power shortage. That might hold things up, but well just all wait and see.
This thread is pathetic. Probably the same guy who said the 2017 Sgt list would never make it to 1600. Find another hobby. You clearly have nothing else going for you so you come here & spew your garbage based of absolutely nothing but your ignorance.
On a NORMAL basis the lieutenant list's in the past average about 300 a year...
I may not be a math expert, but 300x4 is 1200. I would bet a large sum of money year 1 of this list will see 400 promoted. Could be 200 in the next THREE months... Retirements and vacancies are high. I don't need a source or a hook to tell me that. It's called common sense, which unfortunately most on this job lack these days.

I was advised by a buddy of mine since I got that 60 and that didnt help me get on the list that I should start studying now, hopefully I should be ready by the next one since I been studying since last year.

Somebody get the wambulance. You def failed this exam originally. Im comfy in my 1pp gig. Never see patrol and get a meal break every day.

Youre the loser in the copy room, no one talks to you, no one likes you. Where I landed on this list will always be better where you landed in your career.
You guys neglect to realize that ten years ago, large amounts of people stayed past 20 years, especially LT's. Now, it's virtually half of that. If you bother to look at the dept info on NYPD 360, you can see the % of the ranks of LT past 20 years now versus what it was 10 years ago or longer. People simply aren't staying past 20 like they would have and with large classes coming up on retirements, you will see all three lists being virtually completed. There's a reason the Dept and DCAS made large lists. They're incompetent but they're not completely stupid. They see what is going on with retirements.
There is no way all three lists are getting made. Sgt list 100% not, all sgts have to retire in next four years to make room for the whole list. Same with captain list. Now Lt list has a 50/50 chance. You cant compare these three lists to prior 6-yr Covid extended lists. You are daydreaming if you do. I am at low 1000s but not so hopeful.
Same nonsense we heard in 2017 Sergeants List thread. Just all nonsense. Low 1000s youre a lock to make it. Even say youre 1050, 50 will get passed over. Puts you at 1000. Minus 350-400 this year alone gets you to 650-700. Even at 250/yr for 3 years the list is done. Even at 200/yr it gets out into low 1000s.
What list # do you guys think will be eligible for the Captains exam? I will need to finish my college degree if they get to my number by the Time the test comes out. I need to have a good idea because this would basically be the only reason to try and get that degree for me. Like many here with work and home it would be better to start working on it soon just wondering if Its worth the time and effort or just try to get promoted ride it out as a Lt. If I dont get to give it a shot.
Now, in regard to captains test, it's too early of course, BUT, assuming it's given at end of 2026-ish, almost 3 years from now, I would say around list 700-800 and above should be eligible for the test.
Thats exactly my dilema Im between those two numbers and dont
Want to put in a lot of time and effort and miss the cut. I guess Ill take it as it comes.

Dept usually promotes quicker once a higher promo exam is about to be administered. They will try to squeeze as much as they can to be eligible.

You are level headed, and are prepared for the worse. Which is good. Seems like you are a reasonable guy/gal.
But your wrong. Numbers say youll get made. The numbers vs the people on this list clearly proves that. Most people dont understand the amount of Lts in line fore retirement.
Just my opinion but I dont even think this thread should be entertained. The list came out a week ago. Theres plenty of reason to surmise upcoming promotions, but this potential list cutting talk serves no purpose other than upsetting anyone towards the end. Go on an advance your career, motivate your cops, be good to them, and remain hopeful your name gets called. Happy New Year
