The city isnt going to send an other 1500 SGTs to top pay. Keep drinking the juice. Congrats, you played yourself.
Well, at a certain point it is worth it for the city to jump 1500 Sgts to top pay.
Because by not settling, they are being forced to put every newly promoted Sgt to top pay. If they settle now, they can put the newly promoted moving forward back in the steps as long as the step is more than PO top pay. Or is the citys plan to promote every Sgt for the next 2 years during mediation and PERB straight to top pay? Its not worth it for them, that would probably cost more money over the long run than to give a fair settlement now.
How many Sgts have been promoted straight to top pay since 8/1/2023?
I hear theres a member meeting towards the end of the month at 1pp to discuss this debacle. Assuming the SBA is not invited.
The fact that theres a weird underground grass root movement to communicate union intentions and missteps tells you everything you need to know about the state of the SBA lol. How do I join? I have a huge shortage because of this nonsense. just sign the contract, Im making less than my cops and less than my cops who just got promoted. Wheres the dignity.

This is pretty bad- honestly Villabong or whatever his name is has to go. No confidence vote from me. I truly believe they are purposely botching this contract to get more people to top pay so these rookie SGTs keep them in office. They are investing in their own job security- all while over 4200 Sgts eat shit.
Something shady is going on and we are getting screwed. The money we are losing in our deferred comp/ithp etc is more than a fkin retro. We could have been investing into those and had more shares. Now we will get taxed heavy with no interest. So in turn we are not gaining shit. We need to petition to get new blood in. These guys are trash. 10000%
Is this the worst Job in the world ? Not just talking about being a Sgt I mean NYPd as a whole
Not only is not the worst job, it is one of the best jobs in the world. Its only about to get better when the inevitable economic crisis hits, and all of us are not affected in the slightest.

Theyve laid off MOS in the past and they can surly do it again. If the city continues to lose residents and continues to pay for these migrants, the city wont be able to sustain itself
I encourage everyone here to watch Flint Town on Netflix. Its a documentary series on the Flint, MI police dept. Youll feel a lot better about the NYPD after watching it.
They laid off people when? 50 years ago? Yes, and they hired everyone back that wanted to return. Also unless you are brand new, you dont have to worry about that anyway.
There you go people! Realizing the money were losing on Interest/DefComp & the extra money in taxes well pay come retro. Youre all getting it. They needed enough rookie promotions to top pay to allow them to outvote us, and keep them in. Theyre scum. A pathetic excuse of a union leader. Sacrificing the best interest of 1500 ppl for his own.
Is there anyone who knows for sure or is there a way to get these guys out other than an election? Vote of no confidence? Perb deals with numbers. The numbers are agreed upon. They arent going to deal with the 12 hour tours and being compensated for them. Were also out over 2 years already. So now we go to PERB and only get two years. Cost a bunch of money and wastes a bunch of time. And then its settled and we still are out of contract. Vinny if youre reading this. Please do the membership a favor and step down. If you dont have enough decency to do that, ask the membership what they want and not what suites you best. Youre a fucking waste of a union president. The only other more useless person whos ever been shoved into a position of power was Governor Patterson. And he was blind and can see what an absolute asshole you are too.
Instead of posting on here send your post via email to the union.
Whats that going to do? This platform is 100% monitored and now they know how the constituency would vote if there was a an election. There are childrens college funds, mortgages, and expenses that inflation has made for hardships in paying. i understand if theres high yield in pushing this strategy but there isnt. It appears they are correcting a pay disparity that a raise would rectify at the expense of pension contributions and interest accrued. Im baffled honestly. I dont know of 1 sgt that is in rank currently that doesnt want them to settle. Last I checked the union should look out for the interests of its members not POs entering the rank. They argue it is a bargaining chip, NO, its a strategy to gain confidence from the unborn to offset Mullen thievery and maintain power.

You want them to settle? Currently POs make $105,146 (plus an extra $2366 for neighborhood policing bringing the total to $107,512). If the Union settles for the % already agreed upon then Sgts will start at $105,942, which is more than base POs, but actually less than POs because of neighborhood policing pay. The Union is working to try to rectify this as they dont want Sgts making less than POs. Not to mention POs are about to get another pay raise in August which is gonna make the pay disparity even worse. It seems like the Union is doing the right thing so that Sgts dont get paid less than POs.
lol @ Vinny & his gang of thieves talking about going to PERB. PERB will not make a decision on pay disparity. Theyre there to make a decision on a fair raise, which the numbers have been agreed upon, as every redundant e-mail from the SBA and the delegates say. Theyre trying to pass the buck to screw over the 1,500 sergeants making less than the POs they supervise. I cant wait to vote these dinosaurs out.
Oh, and any account here giving praise to the SBA is definitely an SBA board member and their burner account. Or the delegate they pleaded with to save face.
The Knicks are 2 games away from the Conference Finals. Anyway, a reminder to everyone to take your money out of the SBA Core Fund in your annuity and literally put it in anything else. Forget be able to negotiate a reasonable contract, they cant even grow the money of ours that they do have.
Im loving these chart days. Im hearing Sba will break pattern and give a 6 percent bump from all steps in between police officer and sergeant steps to address disparity. Plus, top pay will be another step, 7 years.
There needs to be a contract very soon or we should vote them out PERIOD- ITS TOTAL Incompetence - Stop this Hershey Park BS -- the SBA is thinking this is a hook up? PLEAZZE!
I just dont understand why this pay disparity is so difficult to fix for both the city and unions side. it is real simple, bump up the pay for the first 4 Steps (entry to year 3) and be done. The second to last step at $105k is fine because with the pattern raises it is more than POs just fix the 96k to 97.8k steps and settle this
It actually is easy. The unions have been doing this a very long time. They go on trips across the country and speak with other unions during conferences. Other union contracts are public information and You can see everything. This city has been paying new sergeants too pay for quite some time, not in the citys interest so they are losing. If our unions gave one damn, they would incorporate a clause to say that at any time a member is promoted, they cannot make less than 5% from their previous position. Unions across the nation have this stipulation and its a one liner in their contract. Very easy. But I think nyc unions dont have this clause is because they think they are smarter than the city. Theyre not. Vinny and his goons are steering the titanic

PBA gets a raise in August to 109, SBA entry level would have to be at least that. Then the other problem is their contract expires after that last raise. Assuming a 3% raise, new PBA contract would put them at 115,000 base. To make sure the SBA doesnt fuck this up again, entry level sergeant pay would probably have to be around 115,000. The steps we have now need to be thrown out and completely redone. We also have two sets of groups that we need to create new steps for, those that are still 4 years to top pay and those that are 5 years to top pay.
Also what happens to all the new sergeants at top pay? Do they get their own set of steps or do they go to the new contract top pay automatically and skip all steps?

Once your at top pay, Your at Top pay as far as steps so whatever the new top pay is the new guys will automatically go to it. The problem right now is the current too pay is at 118,000 so that is what the new step one should be for all new SGT because its the only amount that will keep parody. The easiest way to fix this is to put all SGT not at top pay to the current top pay. Which is most likely what the City does not want to do.

You giving these guys too much credit. Most of them probably have only GED from 40 years ago and have not seen patrol in 20 years. What we should really impose is term limits on their positions. If anyone had a brain cell over there working they would ask outside expert for on opinion but with this job ego most people too proud to admit they dont know shiet.
The issue is they dont care what the membership wants. Theyre doing what they want. If they really cared they would send out some type of survey asking what we think is the best course of action. Im not really interested in what some guy with 35+ years on this job, whose probably just as corrupt as the last guy and who hasnt had a bad day in over 20 years thinks about whats best for the rank and file. I dont know when the next election is but the alarming thing is that not one person has stepped up or come out to condemn the board outside of this forum. And no one else has come forward and said theyre gonna run against him and make things better. Maybe its too early? But it seems like the only people who are truly pissed off are the Guys and girls who got screwed with the pay disparity. Even with the monumental idiotic decision of going to PERB, I havent heard one delegate speak out against these guys. To think that another 4 years of these losers is possible is just as scary as listening to people reason as to why Joe Biden is a good president
Pathetic we are literally the only Union left out of contract and making the least amount of $ of any Rank. Such a joke, and if they do go to PERB minimum 2 years meaning 2 years without a raise lol. I get why they think PERB might help if they cant reach an agreement, but its still not helping any SGT not at top pay.
The caddy that carries my golf clubs told me that even his union just got a contract. In fact, the contract is so good that HE tipped ME after my round of golf when I told him about that Im in the SBA
have in mind that as of august PO will pass top pay SGT as well lol just by showing up not even counting their overtime which they already get a hell of a lot more OT than SGT this union is def a joke. can't wait to vote him tf out!
