They are looking to put a class for June, they cleared 150 names with that intention. They will usually promote somewhere between half the # they put for clearances. They need sergeants, that initial 300 clearance was shot down because of end of fiscal year budget as someone on here mentioned already. Pc leaving does slow down things and stops movement on this job it will all be sorted out shortly. Be patient there will be more concrete info in coming days.

Omg two months and only up to 97? This is horrible didnt someone say 250 were going to get promoted off the bat? Why so few? They will never get to the 3-4000s at this rate.

So out of sheer curiousness what causes a cop to get passed over, other than being arrested (jammed)? I see a lot of cops not getting it .. and i have heard pending CCRBs dont stop you, but is that not true?


Im asking because i have an idea of what stops you, but i truly dont know so if anyone actually knows please enlighten me. And try not to be a dick about it

And also pending charges and specs. I know that. I just feel like its a lot of cops getting passed over which i highly doubt they are all awaiting charges/arrested in the past year.

 Pending charges & specs, open IAB investigations, educational requirements, awaiting/failing CARB, some POs who are on Detective tracks voluntarily defer until they are promoted to Detective.

 Not necessarily no. And any down months are usually in the summer.

Well last year they had Sergeant promotion every month from May to December. Still over 500 Sgt vacancies with 3/4 of that on Patrol. I see them pumping classes every month until they get that number down as close to zero.

We had the same pattern with our list it started with classes of around 50-75 and then they would do an occasional class of 100 every so often and usually did about 7 classes or so until last year when they did 9 classes. I would assume they would do about 8 classes this year and if they go at that pace of 50-75 and possibly 2 large classes of 100 they should promote around 600 unless they do a massive class of 150+. But also keep in mind with no active Lt promotions creating additional SGT Vacancies rite now i don't expect to see bigger classes until the fall. Just my opinion based on passed promos

Vacancies for Sgts have been around 400 for many many years.

 June 27 is the first classes last day of BMOC, second class will begin Monday, July 3
