You will not be able to verify the info I am going to provide. I really can only tell u bc it was told to me when I inquired. But I promise you the info is from a civil service law attorney who specializes in promotion exams nationwide. Hes very familiar w ny law and the debacle of Dcas previous exams. He stated the 70 passing score for promotional exams is arbitrary. In essence he stated each exam needs to be examined based on difficulty, analyze every question based on total # to get it right while looking at sex race etc. if you notice there has been a law firm involved with test writing since 2016. Theres a reason for that. I know the 70 rule has been around since most of us have been on the job, doesnt mean Dcas was following law. I forgot the case the lawyer mentioned about but I BELIEVE it was a case involving the guardians where this affirmed many many years ago
Everything goes down to race. More woke nonsense. We all took same test to get on, went to same police academy and have same pay. everyone is equal under penal law unless you take a test. then we pick and choose what race has perceived disadvantage, then we give extra points, then everything becomes fare according to woke city government. Just look at your required training videos.

Finally someone understood the point of the curve bullshit and even better with 2 days session exams for sgt and Lt.
I did not pass nor am I close but I am hearing there were different versions of test now just my thoughts how is it fair I may have understood the question was asked on version a then b just curious.
BS argument. A good amount people of all different races took this exam with a passing raw score, me being one of them. Almost everyone I know would never accept a handout. Everything they earn is through hard work and dedication. Truth is there are many scammers who will do anything to pass an exam but havent put in any work and that applies to all races.
I got a 62. All I did was read elite and key cram material for 2 weeks. I knew that I was going to fail. I didn't feel confident going in. However if the powers that be chooses to curve this exam and I end up with a 70+ I'll be a fool not to take the promotion.
Each question should be weighted differently. For example a question on hostage situation should be worth more than a question on the amount of buttons on a coat. Penal law questions should be worth more than asking who supervises auxiliary roll call.
You know, stuff that actually matters. But what do I know.
Testwonder. I could tell your cops think the world of you. Based on how you are here, I can tell you are a crap SGT and will be an even worse LT. Youre a loser. Ive been a SGT for 2 years so the Covid BS you are stating doesnt apply to me. Focus on getting your life together. Change your views before you get that white shirt. Clowns like you are the main reason why people on this job want to rank up, lack of leadership.

Youre a big time loser yourself. I bet you did not even score an 70 raw score on the 2017 sgt exam. You got made because of the curve bullshit. SMH
Lol did you even take this test? A 60 on this test is a 85 on a straightforward exam. Its easy for people to talk when all they have been handed are easy exams. People who studied a full year on this exam either failed, barely passed or got between an 80-85. Unlike the 2017 exam where everyone was getting high80s to 90s. I for one passed the 17 sgt with a high score and personally know those who went from failing to passing with the curve. And to be honest you can call them covid sgt or lt, but majority are good bosses and I personally know a few who were great street cops. So this exam does not gear you to be a better boss in any way. With various versions of these exams being administered, a curve is the only way to ensure fairness!

I would 100% watch a Netflix reality show about the amazing comments that go on between people in this chat Reality TV style like 8 Episodes 30 min each..I could watch that
There will be a curve no matter what. When you have four different sessions in two different days, they have to curve it to make the pass rate even. Then you have throwouts, at least ten of them. To make the list bigger they have to apply the curve again for all. So if PO Narco starts a lawsuit like he did for the 2017 sgt exam while sitting on a hospitalized prisoner he is most welcome to do that.

Why is anyone even entertaining this guy and asking him questions.
Hes clearly a troll
Raw passers sir. Clearly you dont understand how this goes so I will explain:
You take a City exam and get a raw score.
City has an immediate number if passers based on raw score.
City holds a Protest Session where you dispUte questions you got incorrect.
AFTER protest, a Test Validation Board (TVB) convenes. At this point, they go over all protested questions and decide which questions will be thrown out, made a double or triple answer(s).
After the TVB decides, the list then gets curved based on some formula (cant get into that right now) then list is sent to the agency (PD, FD, etc.) for publishing.
I was informed 700 raw passers. Please dont shoot the messenger.
Unfortunately Im pretty useless now. All my ppl retired who would have that intel. Issue nowadays compared to back in the day is the analysis test goes through post taking it. Test writers would know number of raw passers and so would human resource testing unit. Then number of throw outs who be known by tvb members. All this still holds true today but the analysis of test is done by outside law firm so this is info that cant be gathered. As for how long this process takes I wish I knew
The 2022 Sergeant exam, they said the same thing that it was a low amount of passers and it ended up being 2600 people passed maybe this test is the same way and its a big list.

I know someone who originally scored a 63 and ended up on that raw score list. That 2,400 list is after a bunch of throw outs. I heard around 1200 passed originally.
