You have to put in the time. Study hard and you will see the results.
Even if I did double the work I still would not have passed because packets alone did not cover some of the test. In basket would have been great since I do great on that.
I mean I just studied mikes packets and got an 85 on the sgt test. Every pg and ag procedure tested was in there somewhere. only thing that caught be off guard were the penal law questions
What about LT exam? Sgt exam was easier and I did way less work got high 70s
I didnt take the Lt exam, Ill let you know in another 3-4 years

Yeah, you cant get away with that studying for lieutenant or captain or prob any test now a days
Again they worked for me, I took the 2022 sgt exam which was fairly challenging
I didnt study at all. Fairly confident I wouldnt have passed even if I did, so Im glad I didnt. Ill probably never pass without an in-basket, that was the only reason why I passed sergeants. Oh well.
This exam was very hard but that being said you needed to study everything as well as the packets to pass. I got a 74 and I studied for a year. What helped me was making my own notes and hitting all the SGT/LT duties almost every day. And even then it was a hard exam. Just shows no matter which class you take you still need to do extra because these exam writers know what we all know from the classes and they will never give you exactly whats in these classes. Respect to anyone that did really well lol my brain still hurts.

Every Sgt wants to be a Lt but not every Lt. wants to be a Captain. There will be a curve and throw outs but I do not think they will curve it that much but we shall see..
2017 sgts exam was significantly easier. Free 20 points for the in basket, ground ball questions etc. We all have to get used to new testing styles and stop making excuses. I am sure new testing styles will bring out the best supervisors! Fidelis ad mortem!

Im sure remembering how many could be off on IVD or some other uselessness makes you a better resource manager. Let be real here.

I spoke with my partner today who got high 80s and he basically had the same questions on the test as I did yesterday so thats that for it being a different exam.
I studied 5 days a week, about 3-4 hrs a day, since the end of August. Id listen to audio for 2 hrs a day on top of that, just driving to and from work. Consistently scored in the 80s w rising star questions and 90s-100 on the key questions. Day 2, 72. Hard test. Best of luck to all.
There was no passing score back in the days. If they needed 50 sgts the bottom number on that 50 became the passing score. So yes you had lts that properly scored in the 40's and 50's.

False. That happened with the Sgt lists. Never with the Lts list. The Lt list is the only list people have died on in the last 20 years.
Test was the same confirmed. Dont believe anyone saying they got a different variation. Day 2 test takers will try and defend their case to make it seem like they were legitimate.
Listen, if I was day 2, I would get answers also so im not upset. But it was the same exam. Next time, study enough to get a 90 and not have to worry about this nonsense. Be upset at DCAS and the job for allowing this nonsense.
Definitely an advantage. Even with an extra point or two, just knowing about those odd procedures to focus on. That could be the 2 points that leads to passing.
Great post. THIS is how you know it was a challenging exam. You provided context of your studying efforts and results. Good job and be proud of your score since it was not easy to earn.

You shouldnt have to study for a year to score an 84 on an Nypd promotion exam. Exam was horse shit. Ill never take another test again
Ill be honest, I did horribly. It wasnt horse shit but it was difficult, in a fair way. Everyone I know who passed really hit the books hard and gave 100%. Me however? not so much. This will also be my last test, I just dont have the dedication to study like I used to. Congratulations to all that passed!
studied my ass off, got in the 50s, very discouraging, whats worse is people DM the classes saying how terrific and spot on they did, we all know scoring well on this test was rare, classes simply weren't spot on this time, it is what it is, no ones fault but our own, its just annoying seeing classes brag how they were spot on when majority of their students bombed it.

Can you give context when You say study my ass off?
You shouldn't be studying for a year and be happy with just because you passed, i think that's the point the poster above was trying to make.
Someone with a family who squeezed in 3-4 hours day should at very minimum have a passing grade.
Exactly. People sacrifice a lot for these exams. You shouldnt feel railroaded. The patrol guide has a lot of info but most of it is straight forward. It shouldnt feel like the test makers are writing the test with intention of you to fail. People who would be great supervisors never make it to the ranks cause of this kind of stuff. I scored high 80s on the Sgt exam and squeak by? i feel for the guys who put in the work and missed by a few points. Horrible job by dcas and the job.
Low 70s - What do you think of the possibility of dying on the list? Im anticipating a bunch of throw-outs from calculations. That test was insane man.
People I know who are saying they know of questions that were double answers and some were even incorrectly written. Also from past history from the Captain and previous Sgt. Exam. The 2017 sgt exam has people with raw score of 59 go to a 72

Def not. no way of knowing that, and if 700 people took the captain exam which was more fed up test than this exam and 220 passed raw theres no way 250 out of 2500 passed only.. fake news bro
