Exam 2558 Captain List w Scores

Here is some reasoning behind the curve:
Remember the job always used to give one version of the exam for all circumstances. The Sabbath, military, and LOD/sick people used to take the same exam word by word. Once the job starts to switch couple words, sentences and give different versions of the exam, they create a small chance of unfairness. Imagine they didnt curve the exam, someone could have a very good argument that they would pass if they were exposed to another version of the exam. One word can have substantial effect on someones memory whether theyd get a question right or wrong. The uniform question was one example where I knew the procedure but slight small changes threw me off and I got the question wrong. If I had the other version of the question, I wouldve gotten it right.

I have to agree with Leslie on this one.

I was definitely leapfrogged by people who failed originally, but, I'm used to it by now (working for the NYPD). It's a microcosm of what we go through during our solemn careers with this department. Some people get f**ked more than others, and the Captains exam is no different.

I don't feel the least bit bad. I scored a 69 and ended up with a passing score, studied my ass off for 6 months. This was a garbage test. What because you studied the Admin guide alittle harder and knew how to requisition tire chains or where a 49 goes to through channels means you will be a better executive than anybody else? Sorry I spent the majority of my study time memorizing real life procedures that you actually need to know when you're on the street at that active shooter or dealing with that hostage barricaded. Sure, if that person that got a 62 who barely studied ended up passing that's unfortunate. But the bottom line is a lot of those people who were on the cusp of passing did work hard and deserved to pass a fairly written test.

Listen there LT4LIFE, a lot of people got frog-leaped because of this curve. You have to see their point. You failed! Period ! Youre not a true passer ! They are. Doesnt matter how bad or garbage of a test this exam was. They passed and you failed. How dare you come on here and validate that BS! Count your blessings you clown !

Amen to that! I have been dealing with the same for my entire career. I wouldn't say I am used to it though; I just don't care anymore its almost over for me. This job has a way of damaging for some, every experience that one can go through. If you take a promotional exam and pass, prepare for someone that failed to have a higher list number than you, if you try to get transfer every scrub that know someone will get the position before you even though you are overqualified. This is the biggest mental experiment that anyone can put themselves through lol.

You have already been exposed. You barely passed the easiest captains test ever given. You should be very proud of yourself for using that motivation to write an awful test. Go back to trolling the SGT AND LT forums where there may actually be a few people left that dont know you for the fraud you are.

If questions were thrown out , they were done for good reason. Why so much hatred ? The captains list is big, but going off recent trends as stated earlier by someone it wouldnt be surprising if all got promoted from this list. No kne knows at this point it is just too early to tell. People complaining about a curve because 7 or 8 questions were double answers or thrown out. If they were bad questions they should be thrown out, what is the issue ? Every exam given in prior existence has had throwouts or double anwers. Just because this exam had a few more than previous doesnt mean it was graded on a curve it means the exam was poorly written. Be pissed at DCAS not your fellow Lt's. Anyways Happy holidays to all and congratulations to everyone who made the list.

I agree with you Bacon. The test couldve been garbage but it was the same garbage exam that other people legitimately passed. This is my first time taking exams on this job, and barely have 5 years on, but I think the way the job is going with these exams is no good. Its bad for both those who passed legit and those who passed because of a curve. Those who originally failed and made the list are not guaranteed promotion, and have to wait another 4-5 years to take the other exam if they die on the list. Those who passed have to wait 4-5 years to take the next exam, where previous exams came by a lot more frequent. The days of 7 years LTs and 10 years Captains are gone!

Get used to it, at least no more super makeup exam. Although dcas compounded the problem even more with a Wednesday Thursday exam. The massive cheating that went on for sgts is disgusting. Cops are their own worst enemy

He has way too much fun trolling, disrupting, being rude, and posting so much mother faqing fake news its so toxic. Hes so toxic. I guess thats what happens when your a capt in a slow place like the 104 pct. According to other posts on here calling him out as the xo there. whatever

This is not the first time the job promotes people that score in the the low sixties. When I started, the job used to promote sergeants that scored in the fifties. They didnt have a passing score, the job just promoted as many as possible from a list. Historically, thats what the job had done until they came with the 70 score thing. The NYPD did fine with those bosses and they will continue to do so. I know for a fact that some Lts were getting 5 hours or more to study at work and some were not that fortunate because they were constantly chasing the radio. They are usually the ones that end up scoring in the high sixties.

How about the person with a 69 or below should have studied harder?!? stop defending the participation award system of if you sat for the exam you get your name on the list

Leslie, I completely see and understand your frustration with what happened here. However, your shiting on people who scored a 68/69 etc. who for all you know picked up the points needed to pass through the protest. There were many poorly written questions that could have easily been thrown out. While I agree with you however they curved this test is ridiculous, lets not just sit here and assume every person here who scored below a 70 on test day didn't legitimately pass based off bad questions that should have never been on the test to begin with.

Or they couldve just studied more and then they wouldnt have to worry who had seniority, medals, or jst points.

If someone scores a 65-70 they have to look in the mirror and be honest with themselves. Did they really put 100% into the exam? Or did they waste many a night watching Aaron Judge hit home runs or playing Fortnite.

How about the person with a 69 or below should have studied harder?!? stop defending the participation award system of if you sat for the exam you get your name on the list
