Are they intentionally targeting Yanosik?

i wonder if They feel disrespected to think that (1) Man could dare label a priority procedure as a 5 star, 4 star, 3,2,1.

The Meat and Potatoes are 5,4,3

unlikely 2,1s

and is seems like They wanna do the complete opposite of what Yanosik says On Purpose.

is there a Vendetta against Yanosik by these test makers / dept ?

also what the F**** is up with All the schools and their 4 paragraph practice questions with emphasis on always more than if possible and all this nonsense. How does every school make practice questions with a 99% strict enforcement on these types of study habits

where is the straight forward questions that are simple and aimed to test your knowledge of comprehension on the basic fundamentals of what you read?

these schools make extreme cases and make you focus on the smallest details which is FINE ! But not possible to master every single procedure this way. No one has the capacity to focus every sentence, paragraph and procedure this way.

questions need to test comprehension

once that is established you can take it to the next Expert level by deleting the word after a Comma, and stating its incorrect.

what are we doing here?

none of my promotional exams had 100 questions where if possible was the deciding factor in passing.

im make my own damn review school.  Everyone is OUTDATED with the NEW WAVE OF EXAM QUESTIONS!!! MIX IT UP !!!

Risingstar hit it again with the xxxxx (in case any make up cheaters are looking) procedures contained in their test and quizzes. I'm sorry but it doesn't take a 1st Grader to figure out that they do not like Mike. I honestly dont think any if very little of his core videos or ILMs were even tested. Word of advice to future test takers, the 5 is a 5 and the 1 is...... a 5. Make your index cards and touch everything.

yupppp. rising Star saved my ass on this one! I was mocked studying procedures that people said were not going to be on the exam! 87 baby!!!

people were crying when they hit enter. I had a good feeling right around question 70 I knew I nailed it!

i am a touch disappointed thought. Felt I could have done a 90-91 if if I didnt drop some easy ones.

I passed 2013 Sgt, 2017 Lt, and 2022 capt. By far this exam was the most difficult. From preparing for it, to actually sitting and taking it.I believe that lack of hunger for the promotion affected my scores.

Please edit this post

Why post this... Do not giving any hints as to whats on OUR exam, which will benefit any people who take any OTHER exam.

DCAS is weak and lazy. knowing them, they will give same exam.

Same here, the hunger was the same. Just harder this time around.

I found it difficult and i studied my ass off. Just obscure, and almost incomplete with some of the questions the way they were phrased.

Has anyone ever experience a Question that does not state the title?

According to 909-19, what does the bar tender do?

as opposed to

according to 909-19 - Bartender, what does the bar tender do?

isnt that F*** bogus?

what are the real guidelines for a protestable question?

what are the Legal Rules for writing questions?

Haha this test was written by nerds with under 50 collars in their careers who hide behind a desk.

Has to be a first. Usually gettijg the title of the procedure helps. For me, that added to some of the confusion.

The worst part about this exam is that two of the Captains that wrote this exam, barely passed the easiest Captain's exam in the history of the NYPD. If I ever see them out there, I'm getting collared. I'm punching one of them in the face.

If they passed the 2017 test, I sat for that and was a fresh Lt and studied only 2 months and got a 65. The way I studied now i would scored 85-87 on that test

I will not disclose this, but they were from the 2017 exam towards the last half of the list. If I took their exam, I would have scored in the 90s.

here's my two cents, wthe people who wrote this capt test are losers and messed up people...how do you test us on the most obscure dumb procedures? This test was not straight forward nor was it even close to the 2017 test where 55% passed. This was more like the Vucinaj 2015 Lt test but tried to screw you in a different way.. Shame on these test writers and the test writers for the Sgt exam. Prob why Morales got fired.

I agree. I passed but lets be real. This test was not meant to find the best street captain who can handle real emergencies/priorities.

There is no possible way this list has a high passing rate.

with a job looking to hire captains tomorrow and this small list,

it wouldnt surprise me if they did a curve / throwout or give another test a lot sooner than expected.

Lets add the fact there was a 4 month notice. least time to study then any test ive taken. Its just a shame. But then again who and what were the instructions they were given when developing question?

do they make questions and rate their difficulty and does Dcas choose the amount of difficult ones to put on test day?

any word if the rumors on Chief Morales are true? Forced to retire for failing to assist DCAS in the process of a reasonable and fair exam for the Sgts test 2 weeks ago?

agreed bro. I know for a FACT these test writers did not get the same instructions as the 2017 test where a chief specifically told them how they want the test to be broken down. DCAS doesn't do much with the actual test...Its the test writers panel who create and go over the questions, and the people who come in and take the test before the actual test to see if this test is fair or not... all jerks

Not sure about a curve but there are definitely potential throw outs questions.

The Morales thing has to do with the sgt exam, not sure about the DCAS stuff, but he didn't give anyone direction.

If I had to guess I'd say 20% passed IMO. Theres a lot more people who failed than who passed that I spoke to.

This was beautifully said. I was trying to articulate this earlier. It was vucinaj like in the sense they were trying to fuck you but it was done in a different manner.

I don't want to disclose their names, I'm sure people will eventually figure out who these losers are. But they both have list numbers between 150 to 200 on the 2017 Captains exam. I also heard someone mention that they were purposely testing us on obscure procedures to "get us"! Typical NYPD debacle.

I wouldnt be surprised at all if that was the case with this group of exam writers. It sure felt like some of the exam writers were out to get us. It kinda made me angry in that I was thinking how could someone even submit a question like this to DCAS. I mean I get it, you dont want everyone to make it but come on man. Not cool at all, especially when people are leaving the job in masses and even more especially when you had many taking the exam who went through the 2015 Lt exam nightmare.

I wonder if that's ground for protest. They had quite a few questions like this.

There is no set material for an appeal. You can appeal anything you want. The appeals go to a panel of umos in same rank as test given. They go through the appeals and can approve or disprove them. Ultimately Dcas rep would then change the answer to key to double answer or alll 4 answers being acceptable hence raising your score. So like the exam process, youre at the mercy of the umos doing the appeal process. You want a fair panel, not one that saids a word is misspelled must be a throw out but not a panel that cant be considerate of the real issues w some questions. I believe Dcas law firm that was hired does a statiscal analysis of each question as well and hence where the curve can come in. I have no clue how or what they look for

Don't see a curve on this exam,........based on what I'm hearing from people that took this debacle of a test is that if you studied, put in the time,...then you passed,.....even if it was a 70 or 73! Congrats to all that passed the hardest NYPD Captain's exam in recent history!

At the end of the day we are our worse enemies. Leave it to us to fuck ourselves. That is why we will never be like other agencies. Everyone like to say the job the job the job. Its not the job, its us. Lol, can you imagine a surgeon getting tested on how to apply a bandaid. This is a typical case of what we do to each other on a regular basis. No need to even stress this test anymore, nobody cares. To the writers thank you for the Contribution to the already BS conditions that we have here. To those of us that passed sit tight and enjoy the rest of the comedy until promotion. I have my popcorn ready.

I took yanosik class along with the key cram and rising star questions. Ive taken yanosik for LT test and did very well but this time around I felt like yanosik questions were more geared towards the lower ranks. Not many captain questions, hence why I switched up gears and got the key cram and rising star questions. My score was in the 70s which was disappointing since I studied HARD but if it wasnt for the key rewrites along with rising star questions, I would have without a doubt failed. Obviously everyone is different and this is my personal opinion but if u really want to secure a passing score, take rising star questions, either class and just stay consistent.

I passed and took Yanosik and did the key cram. I didnt do any rising star questions. The test was harder than I thought it would be. They went to sections most people didnt pay attention to. Elite was very weak this time around. Its almost a waste of $1000 to take for a captian exam. All the questions were sergeant heavy with a few captian here and there. Even the core videos were a waste because they were basically sergeant videos with a tail end of captian duties. I wouldnt say I studied hard and I got the score I deserved based on the amount of work I put in. I studied enough of those bull shit procedures to pass. I think the problem is people look for a short cut to promotion and thats a mistake. These classes are meant to guide you and lead you in the right direction but you have to be willing to get shit done on your own. Study the whole guide is the only way to pass these things. For a Sergeant exam Id still recommend either class but to rank up higher they dont have the answer right now.

Agreed! Even though I passed, I will be protesting every question. We have to do it for our fellow brothers and sisters who are on the borderline. Also have to do it for the 9 heroes because if it wasnt for their sacrifice, things would have been much worst. Shame on these exam writers and DCAS! The future of the Department rests with us! Fight to the end!

No yano absolutely dropped the ball on this test as far as his elf quiz bullshit. Every quiz I did with him was 80 percent sgt and LT duties. I talked him up huge bc I passed sgt and LT with him and at end of the day you have to study everything. But his elf bullshit was a very sgt exam friendly with limited captains duties. I'm not saying that's why I failed but as far as his quizzes go, it sucked this go round.

You're right on target. Many feel the same way. Mike has these long ridiculous questions to ultimately as you a Desk/Patrol Supervisor question,.......Like WTF???? We did this already,......if you ask a lot of the Executives, They'll tell you to stick with The Key and Rising Star. The Key breakdown procedures and their rewrites are on point (way questions are written). I'm sorry you had to waste your time with the other school.

I think that when you're studying for Captain, you have to focus on "Captain" duties. That is what Rising Star and The Key provided. Don't believe me ? Look at the packets and course materials and videos for The Key and questions for Rising Star. Other schools want to cover "everything " and did their students a disservice. No time for "interactive videos" and 24 hour CRAMS!

Mike literally said to put an orange box around every captain duty you read. He said it so many times I was getting pissed off at him for continuing to say it. End of the day, all of the answers were in the book all the classes (2) handed out on day one.

I took both courses and the key also read you cop and sergeant duties during class. Mike gets a bad rap, which in my opinion is unwarranted, sad !

I remember for lieutenant the rising star handed out lieutenant duty only packets. It sounds like thats what people wanted spoon fed to them.
