Captains tests in 2012 2013 2014

Just realized going over the previous exams that some questions were on. Why were there tests in such consecutive years?

The rank wasnt good..And this test their are their 3 eligible Lieut a lot of people see it as the only way to make more money especially if youve done an entire career on patrol and have never seen how the other side lives

The rank isnt bad, its the schedule that isnt good. Nothing being done to improve the QOL of execs, lots of duties & your changes make family life difficult.  Lt is the best rank hands down (off patrol since on patrol you are a Sgt with a white shirt).  Just my $0.02

It's because the test was extremely difficult. Only about 40 people passed one of those tests I remember.

It was a combination of difficulty in the exam and the lack of LTs signing up to take the exam. They used to have only a few hundred sign up, definitely nothing like 759 like we do now.

Of those 759, how many are actually serious about getting promoted ? The Lts Ive spoken to are indifferent and are like Ill take it but Im not killing myself in studying or I wont be disappointed if I fail.

I honestly believe that 759 number is fake news. That would be almost have of the Lts signing up for the exam. From what I'm personally seeing, it's more like 20 to 30 percent.

A few in my command only signed up for the exam to get the day off. They are not really studying at all.

Never understood that. You're paying $ 100. dollars to take a day off? To me it sounds like those guys are secretly studying just don't feel confident about it. Never will understand that, maybe if it was a saturday then yes.

FOIL IT. It's a real number. 759. Also take into account Sgts who signed up but were banking on promotion before test day.

Correct! Not all 759 will take the test. Some aren't and won't be eligible.

I know of at least 3 people  who signed up as Sgts hoping to get promoted before exam day. I never followed up to see if they got promoted but Im sure more like them were hoping to get made before exam day
