So theres a contract floating around. Looks like 5 steps to top pay for anyone promoted after 1/29 and no more direct to top pay for detectives (depending on what your base salary is) 2.25, 2.5, 3.0.
It looks like detectives will be able to enter at a maximum of step 3 (based on a comparison of steps). Yes, 5 years to top pay isn't ideal, but at least the base went up significantly. So it isn't a complete sellout of the unborn. Overall, I think this is a good contract with a good retro. Those who have been at top pay since the contract expired are in for a nice chunk of change. Does suck if you're a detective though. While the initial raise won't be too big, at least it's a shorter time to top pay.

If at top pay for those years its 25K not including OT or night diff in retro for reg SGTs. 29K for SSA/SDS
What isnt clear is if a detective who gets promoted at step 3 has to wait 5 years in rank to hit top pay or just one year. But yes this also explains why there were no promotions. Probably will not be a promotion until February.
With this contract taking affect after January 29th it definitely screws a lot of people especially Detectives. But I do wonder, what if DEA settles a contract to where it competes to the level of this Sgt contract?
Ok. Just to make this clear. A Starting Sgts salary from this day moving forward, will be 96k from 88k? If so, thats a 8G bump. Thats not bad if thats the case.

Don't forget the PBA will finish up PERB next month, so their top pay is about to go up.
Lol breeze sgts are promoted when they walk across that stage and take the oath. It may just happen to be prior to a bmoc occurring. Nothing saids a bmoc cant occur first, happened numerous times prior
Yea Im with you Truth. Im just talking in regards to the very recent past. Within the last year or so Sgts have been getting promoted up front
The promotion process was changed after Covid. They could always revert back to having BMOC before promotion, it was done like this for as long as I could remember.

Just so you know that was a giveback with prior contract negotiation. So the city has the right to revert back due to that alone. Sgts like others would get promoted up front. It was changed to save money. So they could and most likely will eventually go back to promotion at the end of bmoc for the rank of Sgt.

SBA contract question . I'm currently Det2 . Where does that put me when get promoted as far as new contract is concerned. Go to top Pay Sgt or fall somwhere where in a tier? . I cant get any answers to this from DEA or SBA or if promotion is worth it

Keep your DT2. Atleast if youre guaranteed OT where you are, regardless if your at top pay or not, youll make more money & im sure wherever you are, your the boss of yourself & dont have to worry about telling a squad half full of morons what to do. But hey, if you have a hook back to DB to make SA pay than by all means.

You go to whatever the next step is from the current step your at. In regards to salary.
Doesnt look like it. Keep in mind the top pay det number they keep throwing out there is with the 2.25% body cam incentive. Top pay detective makes just under the new tier 4 sgt. So it appears all detectives will go to tier 4 of 5. Just the way I'm looking at the numbers. Someone correct me if Im wrong.
No I just looked again and I think you are correct to an extent. A top pay detective will make 107k which is more then the step 4 Sgt which is 105k. So if you are not a top pay detective you will need to go to Step 4 upon promotion to Sgt. The bigger question would then be, do you only sit there for 1 year and then go to top pay or do you sit there for 4 years before getting top pay.
my point is, if they don't include the 2.25% body cam incentive for DET then even the top pay detectives won't go to tier 5 (top pay) SGT. And now according to redcons (where is your attachment from?), you have to wait 5 years regardless to become a top pay SGT.
After 4 years in rank, being in first class, I sure am glad I used my time to study and not used it to discuss nonsense on this forum for for 4 years after the previous test was given. This is such a microcosm of job as a whole and the the attitude in particular. This truly is laughable. Good luck to all.

WOOF
I dont understand what you are talking about. Have you seen the new pay scale for Detectives? Top is above 107k. Step 4 for Sgt is 105k and then rises to 118k in the 5th year. A top pay Detective will be making 107k. If promoted he/she has to go above 107k which would be top pay.

what you make after adding on uniform, holiday, longevity, etc doesn't count - sgt is going to 97.8k to 118k from year 3 to 4 in the new salary chart
