I just created this account so bare with me if this has been addressed/discussed previously.
I am currently on the Sgt List is the 22XX realm. I never thought this would be a possibility but here we all are and im really crossing my fingers.
So I watched 'The Key's Zoom Meeting' posted yesterday (12/2/21) and George Misfud stated that this SGT's exam that we are all on had been extended and is due to expire in February of 2022.
As in 3 months from now.
Is this correct?
here is the link. He mentions it around 7min 10seconds.
Thank you in advance for your info/feedback and good luck to everyone

The exam was given in Feb 2017.
The list was created in Dec 2017.
The first class was in Jan 2018.
It was originally set to expire Jan 2022, but because of the one year extension, it will now expire in Jan 2023.
The expiration date is Dec 2022. The expiration date was Dec 2021. Come next month you are in the extended year. The list was extended 1 year from the original expiration date which is this month. January 2018 to January, 1 2022 is 4 years

If a class goes in this month, list will be over 2k. It is very well likely this list will be done by next December. That gives the Dept 1 year to go through another 550-600 names left on list.
Does it expire from when the first class goes in and not when the list comes out?
It expires January 2023 so if the last class is put in December 2022 your good and even if they establish another list if its established later than January 2023 like say test is given October 2022 and the list is established May 2023 for example i don't know if they would continue the other list until they start promoting on the new one or if they consider it dead as per the Civil Service Laws..unless that has happened before?

Civil service law requires a new list to terminate an old one. At any time after an old list is at least 1 year old you can cancel it and start promoting off the new one. The fact that they extended the current list 1 year which is now what you have left and there still hasnt been a filing date announced for the new test any more than the place holder DCAS put up you guys on the current list are most likely good. I wouldnt expect an earlier termination of your current Sgt promotions list simply due to the fact that there wont be a new list out most likely prior to the new termination date. Most of you can relax and just wait on promo. Itll get there.

Lets not confuse people. The current Sgts list is due to expire in January of 2023. We must also remember that the prep classes are a business so they will SOMETIMES say things to sway you in one direction so they can make their money. Remember the best things to go off of are the facts.
Definitely didnt mean to confuse anyone or try to rattle anyone. sorry if Thats how it came off. when I heard him say Feb 2022 my ass puckered and needed to bounce it off you guys.
like many of you i hate were I am assigned to right now and really hoping this works out

Yes I 100% watched that part. He absolutely misspoke. It expires January 2023. his follow up statements match the fact that he misspoke. I mean this news at this point is almost a year old. Just relax Youll be fine Im sure.

Only if your old vacation picks are available in your new command meaning if they already have three picks for that week then you most likely have to pick a different week that works for the new command. I had three weeks left when I got promoted but I had to pick three new weeks in my new Bronx pct.
List expiration is easy to determine straight from DCAS. Call them up and the automated system will tell you it is indeed January 2023. Not December like someone else said.
As far as vacation picks, like everyone else said, it depends on the command and whether your pick is a bogged up week with the existing senior sgt's. Chances are you will have to repick at least a few of the weeks you have if not all of them, depending on the time of year you get promoted. If you have something extremely important, like your own wedding etc , I would pick it still in your current command so that you have it on paper.
Whats everyones thought on promoting the rest of the list? Im currently around 500 names away and I see everyone picking up their study material for the next exam and Im starting to get a little concerned. I would of felt a lot more confident if they promoted in November and December but since that didnt happen should I start studying again? Thanks and stay safe!
Salty. I want you to read what I say and understand Im trying to look out for you. Dont believe anything anyone saids about your question. The truth you seek is that no one, not me or anyone else, on this board can predict the answer to your question. Any answer will be opinionated based on history and some knowledge. We dont know what the future holds w new administration or needs of the dept. Based on history and knowledge, my opinion is 500 usually gets promoted in a year so with one year left youre good. To answer your question answer these two questions:
If I dont study and they cut the list am I satisfied be a cop prob rest of my career?
If I do study and they dont cut the list will I be furious wasting my time?
Think about it, if you start studying, just incase you dont get promoted, youll prepare yourself for the next exam, but also, you can prepare for LTs exam too in the case you do get promoted. Im sure you can get your hands on both material. Atleast you stayed proactive for whatever comes next.
It honestly depends what "around 500" names means. I would feel a lot more comfortable being 475 names away than 525. After 4 years we're through just under 2000 names. Next test rumors are starting to rumble. There are some passovers to go back for.
I hate to say it because the thought of dying on the list and stalling your career multiple years minimum is terrible, but I would say anybody under 2400 should be studying.
