if i am near the bottom of this list what would anyone's suggestion be in terms of paying for the next sgt prep course. paying $800 for the sgt class and then getting made off this list and having to pay another $800 for a LT class is a lot of money to shell out in a short period of time and i don't know how to approach it. any advice is welcome and appreciated

I suggest paying for the LT. Start studying for that. The whole list is being made. Your only problem is if youll make promotion in time to take the LT exam. If I had to roll the dice thats what I would roll on. This is only MY OPINION & mine only.

Same here. I am assuming that the LT exam will be given February/March 2023. You only need 1 day in sgt rank to take the test for LT. I would only pay for the Lt course and make sure to file for the exam this coming April or May I forgot which one of those months it was. Thats just my personal opinion as well.

Not sure if it's been changed, but I was able to file for the Lt. test as a PO in 2017.

No you need to be in the rank that allows you to take the test to file as of the last exam.  They used to allow all ranks to take any test. They have since changed the policy. But you can file after promo even if time has expired.  Its a simple 49 Explaining why you couldnt file.  You can always file but youll lose the filing fee with no refund.  You cant actually walk in day of test. They identify you there.
