Today was the first day if BMOC. Instructors stated they are not sure if there will be an October class. They also stated the next promotional class will be different because it has to be state standardized. Everyone else is grandfathered in.

They discussed this in my Bmoc class. I came out the last class. Basically you have to have a certain amount of hours during supervisory training. You can only miss 1 day. So if you have scheduled vacation during Bmoc, and if you do not have any trips planned, do not use your vacation days while in Bmoc. If you miss more than 1 day under the new state rules you will have to repeat the Bmoc course.

The curriculum will be a little different.  And you can only miss like 1 or 2 days. The instructors didn't have to much info on it. But they said it's definitely going to be different and not for the better.

So if you miss more than a day do you keep the rank ?? Or just get held over for the next bmoc

Supposedly its part of a new law that was signed during the defund movement. It requires all police agencies in nys to be aligned with dcjs standards. I believe nypd used to be exempt due to its size. No more which means for you to be certified as a higher rank you must complete certain hours in certain fields as stated by dcjs. Now does that mean if you dont you dont keep the rank? I dont know

Sounds like no class for October as they would use that time to train the instructors on the new curriculum. Unless they push for one more class before october. then that would be 9/24

Nah has nothing to do w retraining anyone. Just more of retooling a curriculum. Shouldnt effect classes going in or not. Atleast thats what Im told

Thanks for that clarity. But would this mean no more promoting upfront since you need to complete the requirements of the course?

Instructor said that if within a year you dont make up for the missed days you will give up that gold shield. I heard him pretty loud and clear.

Promos can and will continue to be upfront. I dont see this effecting anything in regards to everyone as promotee except maybe guys on long term meld.

Im hearing from a couple people that the plan going forward is to do a large class every month into next year. Elite said something similar, anyone else hear this too? @Truthseeker, @Copper?

Yeah I heard it straight from a trusted source who was in LT BMOC.  He told me the CO of the Academy told them.  Of course things may change, but that's what was said.
