Sorry guys that 150 for sgts numbers you hear for all ranks are for the rest of the year not July 30
One person stated this on the Captains forum but it makes absolutely no sense. Your seriously telling me the job will only hire 150 Sgts for the next 6 months ?
This was the message posted on the Captains forum. I will quote it.
"From what I was told all these numbers we are hearing for all ranks including captains are not next promo. They had a meeting and these numbers were all total projected numbers for promos from July 30- Jan 1. Which makes a lot more sense because for example the sgts numbers were somewhere around 400 and the LTs numbers were about 107. Personally That clearly to me isnt going to be next class or even the next 2. Similar to captains. They did 8 promos to Captain total in the last 3 months they aren't going to do 50 next month. And if they do there wont be any promos for the rest of the year. I hope I am wrong but Im pretty sure Im not."
Not a clear message here but he also mentions 400, I interpret the 400 as the amount they want to hire for the year which is a reasonable number.
Looks like things are being lost in translation, lets not panic.
Truthseeker has a solid, solid history on here and if he is still hearing 150 I would stick to that for now.
There's a lot of confusion going around. Let me try and clear this up. 125 to 150 is supposed to be this month. The 300 number is for by the end of September/Beginning of October. 400 is the marker for December. Those are the numbers hoped to be reached. Will it happen. No one knows. City Hall can be quite fickle.

Thanks, this is much more reasonable. Obviously not a guarantee, lol. But I can totally see this happening.
Another guy with a stellar history of info, not everyone who posts stuff on here can be trusted unfortunately.
Here is the issue!!! It's going to get to the point were the people with inside/solid information will stop sharing because of the trolling and negative comments. I hope that is not the case but these silly trolling post is out of hand. It's about as bad as the bots infiltrating this board !!

Its all rumors until that finest comes down, remember that. Not knocking truth bc he usually has solid info but its beyond the jobs hands and into the city council who will cancel a class whenever they feel like it.

Thank you for your confidence in us. I was writing a message to clarify something this morning then I did not share because I wanted a quiet weekend but let me write it now.
The problem is not promotion of people on the list. The department has the money to promote people from the list. The problem is discretionary promotions. The city hall does not approve discretionary promotions and that cause the whole promotions to be canceled. So if the department wants to promote 150 sergeants the city hall will never stop it.

So far and we can all agree most of the information has been solid. When the intel changes from a initial report...these guys or girls have come on the boards to keep people posted on the latest developments as they progress. It's unreal!! People come to the boards looking for an update on the list movement. Even ask "any news?" They receive information from which is not confirmed but is a possible solid lead. They all start yelling LIES!!! UN-REAL !! Lmaoo
IMO I think itll get close to 2000 but not surpass. I think itll be late 1800 early 1900 by December. It would take a steady 75 thru December to pass 2000. Im 400+ away & my fair estimated guess for promotion would be April-May, taking into consideration that months will be skipped & those passed over getting made.
Absolutely not. They will do 2-3 more classes. They have done 300 this year and will do another 150-225, bringing the yearly total to the same number they do every year.
Well they would need to do 1000 ppl in 17 months so probably not. The caveat is they could do what they did in 2017, over promote those last few hundred at the end and then not promote for a while.
If they do 3 classes of 75 with Passovers and all that other stuff factored in the list should be just about at 1900 by the end of the year. If they do 4 classes itll be hovering around 2000 by the end of the year. I think most realistically is 2-3 classes left. I wouldnt think crazy yet though. Remain positive.
