I thought that there was going to be promotions on the 25th of this month. Thats what the rumor was, and thats what alot of my buddies were saying. But it seems more and more that its not going to happen. And if its not going to happen this month, I don't think that it would happen next month either. And it certainly won't happen November being that its the elections, and there may possibly be 12 hour tours and a need for all hands on deck.
But I'm only speculating, and could be completely wrong. I'm just sharing my thoughts.
The recent executive promotions shine more light on the scam of the NYPD "promotional examinations." Many of the names on that list are people who are highly incompetent. The recent article posted on the NYPD rant regarding the NYPD Captain who cheated on every promotion exam is something that has been going on for decades and gets worse every year.
So apparently there is promotions Sept 25, but not for Capt's, Lt's or Sgt's. Its only for executives, but stop me if im wrong , I thought there wasn't supposed to be an discretionary promotions?

Hmmm very interesting. I have guys up in my squad who are like 4 months past due for promotion
that would be pretty crappy if the made execs but let everyone under captain rot.

Not everyone that passes a civil service exam deserved promotion either. Unfortunately this job is full of selfish scammers at all ranks.
