The Source is an article in the news website called "THE CITY" from two days ago.

I think the headline was "all NYC civil service exams halted."

Who knows now. Maybe they will go through and extend the current SGT and LT list.

Does anyone know if there is a Chief's son or girlfriend at the bottom of these lists?

The move comes as the city, facing an estimated $544 million budget gap this current fiscal year and $830 million the next, has enacted a hiring freeze for positions not related to public safety or the coronavirus crisis.

im Hearing effective July 1 2020, 20 hour quaterly ot cap. If true the flood gates will open. According to an article the nypd was asked for .5 percent reduction vs teachers 3%. I assume promotions will continue.

I have no secret info just what I am hearing.

I can see patrol being held to 20, I can see admin spots being held to 20. Pct

Det squads would cease to function at 20 hours though

.5% reduction in what? salary? There is no way that is going to happen.

The .5% was a budget reduction. Not pay.

20 hour quarterly cap? Who told you that? The tooth fairy?

One summer detail would put you at 75% of the cap. Fake news.

20 hour quarterly cap...even for patrol...is absolutely impossible. a midnight cop would go over the cap after two collars. Even monthly is rough.

Everything Im about to type can be cited in published news articles and/or the citys own website. The citys budget for next year currently calls for only a .5% reduction in spending, while the board of education faces a 3% reduction. Several city councilmen are pissed and think the nypd should give up more. Its the same Councilmen that wouldnt be our friends anyway. These councilmen want the departments headcount brought down, a hiring freeze, and overtime cut. For whatever reason, the mayor isnt trying to hear it. You would think that right now would not be the time to hire 1100 more cops, but like I said for whatever reason the mayor isnt listening to those councilmen. In the citys published budget for the last several years its stated that every year the nypd goes well over its overtime budget. The council is never happy about this. This quarter last year I remember my overtime was brought down from 40 a month to 30 a month because the city was over budget. I was told that I was getting cut down to 20 this quarter because of corona but it never happened. The department may cut overtime next quarter to even everything out. I dont know. There are a lot of Variables still at play. Congress is currently negotiating the next round of stimulus which is meant for local Government funding. When that passes, and eventually it will money will flow here and ease some of the budget woes. How much? I dont know. Also the citys budget doesnt have to be finalized until July 1. Thats 5 weeks away. 5 weeks for things to Change. I dont believe they will institute a quarterly 20 hour cap. 20 hours a month for the first quarter? Totally believe that. well see

The Mayor won't cut the NYPD budget because as much as he is against us, our progress towards keeping the crime numbers down helps his future political aspirations.

Lol, thanks for the laugh. He has no future in politics. Hes to far left for national politics. He will never be welcomed into the DNC. Hes not going to be a senator or Representative or governor. Once his his tenure as mayor is done hes done in politics.

I think youre confusing your opinion vs de Blasios own aspirations. Yes, hes one of the ****tiest mayors of all time but he wants more. Thats why he tried to run for president. He will use his remaining time as mayor to build a favorable impression of himself so he can attempt to go further.

The article didn't mention anything about 2022 being the resuming year for Dcas. you have a link stating that year?.  Also the city budget argument is what it is, there is no way to tell if it will be a negative or positive for the list or if the city gets federal aid then this whole argument is irrelevant. Well probably know more by years end, if they keep promoting and dcas doesn't produce any new tests then that can only be good for any active list because there would be no reason to cut a list if there isn't another one waiting to take its place.  Best case scenario of this Covid situation is it leads to lists being extended out of necessity for people like me over 2000 its definitely a welcoming thought hopefully by January we will all know more. If anyone heard any rumors about that they should post em here...
