Im not hating but it seems like most of names for the current BMOC are people who originally failed the exam. The job knew what they were doing when they decided to curve the list. The original list wouldve been exhausted by now. Congrats to all being promoted!!
The job didnt curve the list. The job has no say in what occurs that lies w Dcas and what occurred was Dcas doing. Most people, not everyone of course put the time in to succeed, not fair to say anything else.

Dont they usually throw out questions? So what would make you think that this was a curve? Then I would assume that all promotional exams are curved. your comment is kinda hard to understand.

Maybe my comment is kinda HARD for you to understand. The word curve was in quotations but obviously it doesnt come up after posting. I dont think anyone has a definitive answer on how this exam was graded. Anyway, congrats on your future promotion.
They have always thrown out questions from what I have seen to make the list larger, it's nothing new. A lot of people benefitted from questions being thrown out, including myself. Some people studied their asses off and still didn't end up with the score they thought they would get.

And how would you know this? Wasnt there only one list?
List was def curved. I know 3 people who went to the protest and scored 66,67 and 67 respectively but somehow made this list. Considering they had 10+ years otj their seniority points leap frogged over guys who had 3+ years on who actually got a 70 or higher on the exam. Sorry some people may not want to hear it but it was either curved or they threw away about 10 questions. So u say tomato I say tomato!!

70-66 = 4 not 10. Guess you didnt do so well on the math part.

This is how that can happen.
Senior person originally gets a 65. They throw out 5 questions. They end up with a 77 after seniority.
Rookie person originally gets a 71. 70 with 1 point seniority. They throw out 5. End up with a 76.
Thats how a senior person who failed can leapfrog ahead.
I dont have a problem with seniority points. I know too many book smart guys in the higher ranks that get no respect because they havent done shiit in the streets. We need more supervisors Making these lists with time in rank.
Threw out 9 questions. How would I know? I had a 61 at the review. I scored a 70 plus my seniority. I dont give a sh*t, passing is passing, no one cares for people who sh*t on others because DCAS did it the way they did.

I thought it was already common knowledge that this test was curved? A couple of cops in my command (who previously failed 2-3 Sgt test BTW) failed the 2017 test as well. Then the list comes out and cops that failed magically not only pass, their list number is higher than some of the original passers due to the seniority points factored in.

they did actually curve this exam from what I remember...if you took the harder of the two exams( original and makeup) your exam got curved the difference between the average scores of each I think from both exams. Its how they solved the makeup exam fiasco. Now they take a new test, cant get the answers beforehand, and cant sue after they fail.
Bottom line is if you are not on the list you failed regardless of the throw outs or curves. All three exams have bigger lists this time than previous ones. If someone with a 65 passed the test because of throw outs or curves they deserve it. If you didnt pass then you scored less than 65. A few throw outs are common in each exam. If that didnt help you then you scored low. Maybe you can study harder so next time you dont have to complain about curve or throw out. This exam is almost 2 1/2 yrs old. Lets talk about vacancies and future BMOCs.
