Greetings all. I understand the frustration most of you who are close must be feeling. I do not wish to share OPINIONS or false narratives so I will make this brief. I wanted to let everyone know there is no rumors of upcoming classes, no talks of upcoming classes, and no plans for upcoming classes. I can 100 percent definitively tell you the ENTIRE bmoc unit is assigned to the task force. That right there should tell you where things stand for the upcoming future. So talks of distant learning etc etc, yeah will not be happening without a leadership Unit. for everyone who wants some idea when bmoc will start up, should follow what occurs with the task force unit.
I wish to remind everyone that this is uncharted territory. The closest thing of shutting down training to occur would be 2008 and training wasnt grinder to a halt as it was this year. Lawsuits failed and lists were not extended. These are factors working against extending any list. Another huge factor is the budget. There may not be any money for promotions. But you have things going for you as well. Budget cuts will lead to overtime cuts which will probably lead to a mass exodus. Or maybe ppl will see the current job market and say no way Im leaving now. If you think this is contradicting, it is! The truth is no one knows what the future holds. 1600, 1700, extension, lawsuits. Only answer is we need to take care of ourselves and see where things land. A projected large class of recruits is being considered for July (over 1k) but this can be striped at any moment due to July budget upcoming. We just dont know what will occur but this would help your promotion needs so root for it
track future promotion rates as time goes to get a clearer answer on possible cutoff scores for exam expirations. Track when the task force is being disbanded to track future bmoc classes. Track possible future test dates in the future, if youre not promoted yet sign up! If you get promoted you will have a leg up on lt exam. Too many variables to worry about to possibly figure out the answers you most seek. Good luck to all future supervisors.

Absolutely. Will probably come back at a more feverish pace as well to make up with vacancies. I heard from an executive involved w the task force that it would last 4 to 6 weeks. I dont believe any number can be accurate since we do not know how long social distancing restrictions will be around. Another important thing to think about is summer all out for crime. Will the task force be utilized for crime reduction if social distancing is eased. We need promotions, supervisors need you out there, job needs you to supervise the Cops. I know most of you studied hard and I just want you to not listen to numbers on here. No one knows the NUMBER. Track the things you can track and try to stay safe and sane!
I can tell you dcmb is preparing for 1300 recruits for July. Here are the caveats to this:
1- fiscal year budget is the biggest. Will city pay for hire is unknown until budget is passed by July 1
2- will Apd provide the applicants for such a large class. A lot of Apd was taken for the task force
3- April hire was to be 500. The 1300 number includes those 500. The class can be cancelled and you can see 0 hired, 500 hired, or upwards of 1300 hired
Because entire leadership unit is assigned to covd task force. Second the job has enough sergeants lts and captains especially with training down and other admin commands out. Yes precinct guys may not feel there are enough sergeants etc but this is not a top priority and what is out there is more then capable to get the job done. Recruits remain a top priority still until money runs out.
There are talks to do sgt bmoc. This would involve having an actual bmoc since cops need some sort of training unlike the lts and captains. I dont have number yet and this is still not concrete as things are constantly changing

If they really needed Sgts, they can put in a class and just use the big auditorium at the academy and just spread everyone out and use the mic to do the classes. Maybe im thinking way too much into it, lol. But it can be done. The scary thing is the budget issues that can come up. If theres no money for promotions, The list is screwed.
Haha. Ok yeah I see why I got an Lol. And i deserve it. Thats ok! It is 50. But a few extras might slide in brining the total up to only a few more than 50. Is that fair?! Lol. Dont go hoping for a 80 person promotion, Caralho! Lol

I wish! Im sure everyone on the list wishes as well. So no mentoring
Hearing a new rumor that there will be no Sgt BMOC and that there will just be a promotion and theyll be sent to commands. Who can confirm ?
Yep. Hearing this also. Theory is- promotions up front like lieutenant, work the summer similar to an all-out/mentoring capacity as probationary sergeant and then bmoc after summer ends or when covid crisis is lifted.
