All unions are without a contract. Anyone know what sorta givebacks they looking at and how high do you all predict they will get before a new contract is finalized and ****s me. Lol
they wanna gut the health insurance at least as far as sba is concerned, although i think the pba is getting that 2
must go to a city hospital for no copay, otherwise 1000 bucks and up for private hospitals depending on what tier it is, going up to 3000 bucks
it's madness, unions have to go to perb, cant possibly accept that
I don't understand for the life of me why people are short sighted and ratify these ridiculous contracts. A "raise" is not a raise if you have to give something to get it. Do you think in the corporate world that would fly?? Vote no on these ridiculous contracts and let it go to PERB. Stop selling out the unborn for a measly 2%. You are not keeping up with inflation if its at 3%; you are forever behind the 8 ball. Think long term and don't be short sighted. Just my $0.02
The Unions that represent all of the NYPD employees are the bottom of the Barrel. DC37, PBA, SBA, LBA are all filled with useless slugs. These slugs then hire incompetent crony law firms. I think I heard that Pat Lynch's son is a PBA delegate in the 103. My god how much time does he have on the job? The 103 is one of the busiest police precincts in the country. But family connections and nepotism reigns supreme in the NYPD. The only seniority rights anyone has is vacation picks. You have these rookie cops who don't know $hit about anything in anti-crime, NCO and community affair spots and now scamming delegate spots. If I was in the 103 with more than ten years on the job, I would want a delegate with a massive amount of street and GO15 experience representing me, not the rookie son of the PBA president. This is the infestation of nepotism as the expense of officer employment protection. All of the aforementioned Unions above are for show. There is no wonder why we all get these terrible contracts. Every contract is worse than the last. This father/son Lynch PBA spot dynamic is similar to the career of our Pot-smoking Mayor. Deblasio owes ever job he has to his cousin John Wilhelm who was the President of the large labor union UNITE HERE. It wouldn't surprise me if Wilhelm was some type of government informant. Wilhelm got Deblasio a job working as a clerk deep in the cavernous bowels of City Hall when Dinkins was Mayor. Half of the members of DC37 are a step away from being homeless. Furthermore, under Patrick Lynch, Mayor Bloomberg was able to wipe away the 20 year pension tier 2. Lynch stood by while the hopes and aspirations of a generation of NYPD police officers evaporated like a dream in the night.
Where to begin?... first of all PBA delegates are elected. If Lynch's kid is a delegate, then he was elected just like everyone else. Maybe you can let the cops in the 103 decide who they want to represent them and not concern yourself with it. Secondly, neither Pat Lynch nor Michael Bloomberg had a single thing to do with the loss of the tier 2 pension. Please educate yourself before firing off at the hip. The deck is stacked against the unions in many ways in this city. Especially the police unions. They generally do a decent job given the situation, but there is room for improvement.

Will never happen.
Most have no idea about money, income, investments, savings, etc.
They get that letter in the mail and blindly check yes or dont even bother to fill it out.
It appears that the SBA did nothing to remedy the "Quirk" in the SBA contract that allows rookie Sergeants to make more than veteran sergeants. Does anybody have any info ?
Apparently they will stay at step 3 until top, none of them from what I heard went to top pay after the year. But yes they did make more and no retro for Sgts who got screwed in the first few classes to get promoted like myself. It is what it is, white shirt is a bigger raise!
The reason the Sba is 4 years to top pay is bc that was their giveback in order to get a set of 4s. Basically the pba started a trend of selling out the unborn. From what other union leaders have stated, Lynch promised he wasnt going to one set of rounds and each union waited for the pba to settle. However the pba went ahead and ended up getting a deal they couldnt refuse that sold out the unborn w givebacks. This is the reason no union waits for the pba to settle. Im not bashing the pba they did what is best for their current members. However, to get the same deal each union had to match those givebacks. The Sba went to longer top pay. The lba decided to give up chart days. Reason being more members wanted the money quicker and time was easy to accumulate for a lieutenant. Again these are just the stories told by each union to justify why they did what they did. What went on behind closed doors I can never know
Has any union tried to argue the residency requirement? Ive never heard of a legitimate reason for it. You can live in Port Jervis but not Hoboken? Doesnt make sense to me.

Does anyone know why its like that?
Taxes.
Care to delve further? I've heard taxes but no one seems to explain it at all.
if you own a house in hoboken you're paying property taxes on it that will go to NJ, not NY. having a housing requirement basically forces you to at least pay more taxes in NYS.

That doesnt apply to teachers though...
Not trying to be argumentative just that the residency requirement is kind of lame. But it is what it is

Im thinking the firearm requirement also had something to do with it. Before HR 218 went into law, you wouldn't be covered should you have needed to take action with your firearm and it occurred outside of NYS as you were only licensed in NYS. Technically I guess you could be collared in another state. The residency requirement was obviously in place before HR 218 and i just think no one has put forth the fight to change it. Then again I could be completely wrong lol.

He wasnt elected. The delegate left and handed it off to him.
