Why would they make a completely different exam rather than just switch the questions around, which is how they kept passing. Guys would post answer keys on here and guys would copy it and then use it on make up exam day.
Bc morons would talk about the questions on this site and at work in detail to the degree that switching the order didnt matter
I honestly think, now that its been fully explained, that this is the best way to do it. In order to really throw off cheaters they have to change the tests, then to stop people complaining about one test being easier than another, they scale it for fairness.
Department has list. DCAS is doing veteran pt verifications. If there is an examinee who is unable to prove vet or disable vet pts first week of April then DCAS will adjust the list. DCAS is located in the same plaza as headquarters.
Mayors administration, particularly 1 person, was unhappy with the number of passers that reflected one race. The aim was not to raise the average of scores. It was to create a larger passing pool to include more of the under represented race. It is legal. No original passer will "lose" out, just more people invited to the party.
I wil not share sources to back up my claims. Take it or leave it.
63ASAP probably knows more than he/she initially stated, as I do.
But this makes no sense unless they promote everyone.
If the original list is 1000 people and they want more martians on the list so they curve it to to get 1500 people on it.
But if they promote only 1000 people then it changes nothing.
Thats why they promote everyone and space our the test more.
You think they will promote everyone even with these huge lists?? You think they are gonna promote a 2600+ Sgts in 4 years?? I cant see that happening.

I agree. However, with the Lt contract coming full circle this year (last raise),..many Lt will retire within a year or two. No Lt will stick around for another contract. Question is, will enough Lt retire to promote everyone on this new list????

Take a hint. Theyre not going to make anymore bosses then they need within 4yrs unless an extention is approved. Theyre gonna cut the list and those who dont make it prob would have not made the list to begin with. Those who are cut and sue have no leg to stand on bc the city will say they helped them with the scaling. At the end of the day it was as fair as possible on the citys end so its your fault if you didn't do better. The new wave of tests will go 4 full years with no lawsuits, at least ones with any legit grounds
Put more people onthe list. Let them die bc they will anyways and avoid lawsuits...
Exactly!,...now its all about ones score,...lets just hope enough Lt retire so everyone gets made,..but he way the economy is set up,..dont see too many Lt running out the door,...we will see
Veterans don't have their appointments till next week. Call me pessimistic, but I can't see DCAS working diligently and having a list certified within a week from that. Late april/early may would be my best guess. Just a guess though.
Only a hand full of vets I believe the dept has it. I give it 2-3 weeks
Nupe nupe may I join your group! This whole dcas scoring scandal has thrown a monkey wrench in the game. Original I think dcas was going to release the list in april...but things may have changed. Hopefully elder diggs can help us out on this one.

Im with you. My moneys on the last week of April or first week in May
Is it April yet? No.....As I stated before, before the vet letters went out, the list was projected to drop in April......now with vet letters going out and guys going the 4th and 5th of April to verify their points only continues to prove I wasnt trolling brother. im not in the bus of trolling. Im eager like the rest of you. I share it because real news is better than no news.

What scandal? How else is dcas supposed to rank people taking two completely different exams on a single list? There's no scandal and no monkey wrench. The show goes on.... albeit slowly, but it goes on.
Now that we know the test is curved, what is everyones predictions about how big the list is gonna be ??
List is around 1300 names. The job has the list. They have had it for a few weeks. JST points have already been added. I'm not a troll and this is not a rumor. It should drop sometime in April or early May.

Does this mean the list will drop the week after Vets verify their points?
The list should be out next month. Sgt promotions depend upon it. Right now there is an LT class tentatively scheduled for April. It all depends on if they curve or scale your exam or not.
I know this is the first time the points are scaled so we might not know the answer. My question is about adding on military points, JST points, time in rank, etc. Do those points get added in before or after the scores are scaled?

After, because they're only added to passing scores. So before you can add it, you'd have to know what scores were passing.

After. The scaling applies to raw score. My question is whether the list of 1287 has the scaling alrealdy applied or is that pre-scaling because if its pre-scaling it could take a whole lot longer..

Ok duh. Please excuse the dumb question. I do midnights and should be in bed by now.

After. The 1287 is the final list. I also saw the list but didn't want to add that here. It did not have list numbers because all of the points are not done being added. JST is done and Vets are coming up. I can't speak on medals. Once all of that is added then the list is sent back to DCAS to create the list numbers and then the OFFICIAL list with numbers is sent back to the department. The department will then do the IAB and OEEO checks for promotions and a BMOC class will be made. The rumor is end of April for Lt BMOC but don't be surprised if its in May. When the Sgt list was published the IAB and OEEO checks took less than a week and the class went in the following week so you never know. But for those looking for an actual number of Sgts on the list it is 1287. Before anyone starts talking about the list being cut, there is no talk of cutting any promotional list. DCAS will not administer another exam until the list is almost exhausted. If the 4 years is up and there are still ppl on the list, it will be extended. This new process just sucks for those who are waiting to take the next Sgt, Lt or Cpt exam.

Do LTs always get promoted up front? Or will they start the leadership course while waiting for a promotion? For example if the list comes out in early May but there aren't any promotions until late May, what do they do?

Interesting. So they plan on the list going beyond 4 years. I was always curious if that was a policy issue or a legal one. On the sergeants, that can mean an extra 2 years...that's crazy!
There are promotions tentatively scheduled for April 27, June 5, June 29, July 27, August 31, and September 28. Hopefully a few of those are for LT.

I know points are still pending but does it look top heavy? Do you know roughly how many people in the top 10 percentile?

Lots of ppl scored 85 or better but i honestly didnt pay attention to all the scores i really was just looking for a couple buddies to see if they made the list because they were right on the cusp. All 5 made it.

This goes with what I heard about all of the lists being finished. Thanks for the info MBREEZE! You've always been a stand up poster. Maybe now everyone can stop screaming about people dying on these lists.
