When are the people currently in BMOC going to actually get promoted? They are doing promotions tomorrow for the super chiefs. Will they have another ceremony at the end of the month? Or will Sgts not get promoted until February?
We currently have 85 in this bmoc. Nothing has been mentioned to us about the next class. Sba was actually pretty surprised our class was put in. And yes tentatively graduation is set for Jan 30th but bmoc itself isnt over until feb 16th I believe
There are promotions tentatively scheduled for 1/30, 2/23, 3/27, 4/27, and 6/5. No idea about ranks, so it could be anything (discretionary, upcoming LT/Capt lists, etc.) but it can provide some indication. For sergeants, based on these dates, it's possible that a BMOC can go in some time in February for a March promotion, or in March for an April promotion, and so on. That sort of decision making is well beyond me, though.
That would be a furious pace for bmoc if those dates were scheduled for sgts. With six week bmoc course its looking grim for people like me in the 1800s if they only have a class every other month.

Im in the 1850-1870 range. I think we should be good but itll probably be a 3-3.5 year wait, maybe even 4 but Im sure well get made
Guys, its only January 2018, the list has 4 years to expire (possibly 5). Start freaking out in 3 years. I honestly think the department will hire as many as they possibly can. At the end if the day its better to be on the list than not on it.

Next BMOC is mid February with a March promotion. Approximately 75. Lt list will POSSIBLY come out in May.
Lol stop mbreeze. There is no way they are putting in a class of 75 sgt next month when a LT list wont be established until may or even june. Once this current bmoc class gets promoted there will only be 15 or so sgt vacancies. Stop giving people false hope!
Lol that's cool. I'll come back to your post next month and if there is a BMOC class, you sir will kiss the ring. Lol. I try not to post any info i get unless i know the source has FIRST hand knowledge. We shall wait and see in the next few weeks. Ill gladly bow down if I'm wrong lol.
This was coming from the instructors at bmoc. As far as it being from the old list that seems not likely since our list will not only be in bmoc but also officially promoted. And I was told a small class of about 30-40.... Im just passing on info that I was told...they werent obviously 100% sure but some news is better than no news
It cant be form the old list. the new list already started. And they took 11 form the old list and mixed them with the new. So if there is a small class it has to be from the new list.
Quick rumor from the guys here. Rumor is a small bmoc starting February 5
I heard that too. Something about 10-15 who were still on the list. Getting them in before it expires or something. No one from our list tho.
I dont think they can justify a class that small for the resources it takes to run a Bmoc. Possibly upfront promotions and a transfer to some position like lefrak awaiting the next bmoc. All in all heres hope to another 40 come February 5!

Not true. The old list ends once they promote from the new list. Starting bmoc is not being promoted. Once the first person or class from the new list is officially promoted and sworn in as sergeants, then the old list officially dies.

This is totally wrong. The 2009 Sgts list was being promoted off of at the same time that the previous list was. The classes were mixed for I think the first 4. What you have to realize is there really aren't any hard rules on these things other than that a list lasts 4 years after being activated.
Additionally, often Sergeants are promoted up front then get assigned to EMD (I think) until the next BMOC.

You cannot have two or more active lists. For seniority purposes, they promote the ones from the previous list before the new or current list but the old one is dead once they promote from the new list.
