As of August 16, there are 18 lieutenant vacancies (which includes allotment for LCD/LSA), and an additional 41 on terminal leave. This does not include the current group in captains BMOC.
So if you add in the captains class that's getting promoted soon we are at 43 vacancies? And then 41 who are on terminal that hopefully the majority of become vacancies as well.
As of September 4, there are 73 lieutenant vacancies (which includes allotment for LCD/LSA), and an additional 15 on terminal leave. Good news for us, and in line with the "rumors" of them promoting another 90 by years end.

Is the 90 rumor by end of the year confirmed, or will there be 2 classes of 55/50 since there will be 88 vacancies by the end of thenyear according to terminal/vacancies #, and supposed 10-12 captains going in October?

Can't speak to promotions. That's outside of my wheel house. Sorry.
As of November 2, there are 43 lieutenant vacancies (which includes allotment for LCD/LSA), and an additional 18 on terminal leave. Things are looking good! Steady amount of new vacancies with each passing month.

Thanks for great news.... do you know if there is going to b more than 50vacancies by the scheduled promotion on the 21st?
As of November 16, there are 45 lieutenant vacancies (which includes allotment for LCD/LSA), and an additional 22 on terminal leave. Remember, this does not include today's promotions.

63ASAP, curious of the numbers since the last promotion pretty much brought us up to little to no vacancies. December update would be great, thanks in advance.
I don't know if this fits under this topic, but the Chief of Department was asked in the LT class if a new position would be created for NCO LT and he said no pretty quickly because they want to continue to have the NCOs working closely with the XO. He also said he knows some commands give some responsibilities to the SOL, but it is not designed for that. Also, I don't know specifics but one of the instructors also said LTs and Capts can't just be increased at a whim. Those rank totals have to be negotiated unlike Sgts which can be increased based on force numbers of police officers. I am not sure if he meant contractually or what.
I figured I would mention it here since I have read a lot of people talking about it.
I have no idea why people tie the stock market to retirements. If you are ready to retire a few days of negative trading will have little to no real effect on your pension and most guys will probably leave their deferred comp in some type of investment anyway.
As of December 3, there is 1 lieutenant vacancy (which includes allotment for LCD/LSA), and an additional 18 on terminal leave. Obviously, this was expected, but it's still better than I thought...

As of December 17, there is 1 lieutenant vacancy (which includes allotment for LCD/LSA), and an additional 21 on terminal leave. We've gained +3 on terminal in two weeks...better than nothing.

Looks like reality is starting to set in with class sizes/frequency
Yep, I've said for some time that once we catch up with the vacancies, it'll revert to the usual 180-200 yearly average. That first year was an anomaly to fill the void after the 2015 debacle. Going forward, we'll be seeing the usual numbers.

What about the Capt's list? Any predictions because that list affects everyone else...

Its slowed down too. I believe the next capts class is 10?

I don't see a reason why we'd deviate from historical averages (for every rank). I'm not sure if someone tallied them up in your thread, but whatever that number is, I suspect that will continue.

Can you post the historical average for each rank??
