NCO is a joke. Prob best gig ever if the CO doesnt use and abuse you for other stuff. NCO program though is creating a new generation of touchy feelie cops who dont know how to put hands on real perps but thats what they want and theyll get it now

The NCO program is run by a SGT who reports direct to the XO as per the book. Also I dont see why a Lt has to worry about body cameras they literally shouldnt be responding to anything. Its not their job to unless its a serious emergency.

I disagree. NCO program has absolutely effected the Lt rank and other ranks. The NCO program has greatly improved man power in precincts by removing a lot of the special ops teams which severely effected patrol strength. For instance, as a platoon commander, instead of having 4-5 sectors turning out due to lack of man power, you will now have at least 9-15 sectors.  Cops that want to be active and get into a detail have to prove themselves on patrol first. They're not simply getting scooped up by one of the many special ops teams that existed prior to NCO.  NCO program is not perfect and does need some tweaking, but it was a good step in the right direction.

How long has your command had the NCO program?

From your comment id say a year tops. Mine was one of the first to get it and everything you said initially is true. Except when people start to leave the command. With no impact you're only getting 6 to 12 cops a year now. We lose more than that. Not to mention the off patrol time mandate and stuff. Now between details hospital posts transports you're lucky if you get more than one response auto. As for the it effecting the LT rank it makes your job harder. The main issue to me is that the NCO and FTO program cannot coexist together. Theres no flexibility in either one.

Actually the NCO program is directly effects the platoon commander. The steady sectors can't even write a 61 or an aided card out of sector. Off patrol times falls to the plt commander.

It's run by the Sgt but the SOL has a lot to do in it. All the MARCH ops, gathering Intel etc still involves the SOL. All the patrol related stuff falls to the Plt commander.

You're right, less than one year and I could see this happening. Good point.

This goes to show you how Different this department is precinct to precinct. My cops leave their sectors all the time and its encouraged. Plenty of times they have left their sector to do a report. My SoL doesnt touch the NCO the Sgt reports direct to the XO.

Wait until Ceasefire Program kicks in CityWiide also. That will use about 2-4 cops whenever needed. Most likely 2-3 times a week.

Probably the use of precinct cops to work details within the command with heavy weapons. 78 and Midtown South are supposed to be getting it to deal with Barclays and MSG.

We do ceasefire in Brooklyn North. The long and short is when crews are beefing and killing each other we go out and focus on them kinda thing. If you observe them commit a violation that is normally a C.. they are a collar during the ceasefire program. You let them know we are out there. The Precinct, PSA, gang, narco, DA office, etc are involved with it at the same time.
