I attended the 2011 Sgt. exam protest as well as this one with skiguy37. We passed both original exams. I was really angry with this test and even though I knew I passed I wanted to kick it hard while it was down. I protested ten questions with the combined power of all of my education in college and on the job. I stayed the entire 6:45 and was just as exhausted leaving the protest as I was the actual exam. I used highlighters and stapled all kinds of stuff to the little protest sheets. I wrote the same lines of nonsense at the bottom of each page as required and numbered the protest sheets when there was more than one as required. I didn't let them have ANY little mistake which would cause my protests to be disqualified. I argued specifically why each one should be a throwout, double or triple. There were quite a few I looked at and said "Damn, they got me." But there really were more than a few rotten apple questions on this exam. It may have been the masterpiece of a fool but it was no work of art.
First off thanks for protesting even though you passed. Not many would do that even though they say they would . Which questions do you remember protesting?
I was told by the TVB Lt that there were 10-12 of them that had pretty solid articulations. He would be the only one aside from the other Lt to know this. He actually read those arguments and believed that in his opinion that 10-12 of them had an excellent chance to stick. Let's just wait and see. Have faith in those that submitted protests. Also, don't forget that most people emailed the schools for assistance. There were people who even had to questions mentally memorized and were able to cite them to instructors. We have to have faith.
I have the ones I protested crumpled up in a ball under a pile of papers at home. I'll check when I get home. I remember for #1 I argued that despite precinct statistics there was a CO's memo that stated he wanted the pedestrians at the boat show to be protected. So when I was asked where to put the accident prone auto I chose the location nearest the boat show because in real life you DO NOT disregard a CO's memo no matter what precinct statistics tell you.

How so? I'm not the one getting my panties in a bunch because a few people stated a plain truth: professionals are better than amateurs. This isn't subject to debate. Why should this make anyone defensive much less resort to name calling?
I hope there are 19 changes. I pretty sure they'll be less than 10. It's a guess. At this point people on the cusp are better off managing their expectations than getting sucked into more bull**** from the Rising Star snake oil salesmen. Optimism is fine as long as it is guarded.
If it makes you feel better I'm impressed with anyone who took the time to fight questions they didn't get wrong. It's a classy move. It's also very rare. BTW - That's another reason professionals are better than amateurs.
The problem is the lack of confidence in fellow cops. One of the reasons I'm getting out. Changed so much in 18 yrs it's a different job. Me me me. Good luck fellas---hope for the best expect the worst. But no reason to put the school guys on such a pedestal. Ha---U guys are rookies. Drank the super kool aid as 3 yr rookies and now think these guys shoot lightening bolts out of their d**ks. Thank god I got promoted late lol! We ll chat the 27th see if we made it, if not take next one!!!

You people are too serious. Grow a sack. This site is locker room humor, we're not at church. Now untuck your balls please. Thank you.

Nice, how you told your parents?

I'd like to hear what other people protested and why. No more make up people out there right?
I protested what the majority did. cims 78, DV question 54, blah blah . I also protested a question involving a 53 where they locked you into a 217-02 (critical/likely) Meanwhile it was a fender bender making it a double. Doubt anything I protested will stick cause at the end of day the question says MOST correct . In my opinion there were flaws but not a big enough flaws to get a question tossed or changed.
Exactly! All myself, Slate and wisecop are saying is instructors influence the process in our favor. All the reasons why this is true have been articulated numerous times on this forum and they are irrefutable. I said half the protests were in crayon. I stand by that. It ruffled feathers I guess because the, 'Yeah but I'm brilliant crowd' suddenly made an appearance. Don't worry. We all know there are people who are capable of following directions and lodging a well reasoned and written protest. Reminding us all you're out there was hardly necessary.
As for DCAS being completely above influence, it is obviously not true. This is why 19 changes were found for 2011 Lt and 27 for 2010 Capt. How many changes were on the famous 'Retargent' exam that over 1600 passed? Was it three? Wow I guess it was because it was so well written, right!?!?! C'mon! Wake up!
The process clearly is not on the level. I do not dispute that DCAS is king and can do what it wants. It's the lead agency. So what? It doesn't follow that it's above influence (or at least that it's agenda and the job's doesn't often overlap).
At the end of the day we are in violent agreement. I guessed <10 changes from the start and recently narrowed it down to 7 (wild guess). sgt2be says it's 5. ondeeair says it's 7-9. I don't see any of the resident geniuses coming in with high numbers. Hell, anyone standing by double digits is labeled a troll. What the hell are we debating exactly?
The "retargent" exam only had so many passers because there were 9000 people who signed up for the test. It was difficult but written well with the exception of the "southerly winds" question, which I actually got right... It was not easy by any means... I'd have to use both hands and feet to count the amount of people I know that failed the "retargent" exam but passed the 2013 one.
