Breaks between lists

Anyone have stats to help guess the likelihood of a break between the 2011 list and 2013 list? Does the city try to avoid lawsuits by ending the current list by promoting from new list in the immediate month vs skipping a month between lists?

Skipping months doesn't matter as long as the last list isn't mixed in with the new one. That's why this bmoc was only from the 2011 list. Now before people start getting angry I have said they weren't going to mix lists prior to this class and my info was correct. My info came directly from uniform promotions. I do not believe they have to skip any months though! I was told the dept got sued before, I don't know the details about it. Don't shoot the messanger... Dec is a real possibility and keeping my fingers crossed bc I should be in the next bmoc... Wish you all good luck!

There is no need or requirement to skip months. They could promote off the new list the next the day if they wanted to.

I understand all that. I guess my concern is if they skip December that gives the passovers another month to get cleared, cuz the 2011 list isn't dead until the first person off the next list is promoted right?

From my understanding, if anyone is cleared at the last minute from the end of the 2011 list they would attend BMOC with the beginning of the 2013 list. They would be promoted up front, meaning that technically the lists still would not have been mixed due to the jam ups going into bmoc as SGTs already and the cops from the 2013 list being promoted at the end of BMOC. (IE. Different promotion dates for the two groups.) So there is no cause for concern.

I can't see what any kind of lawsuit would have to do with mixing two lists into one class. The seniority goes by exam and list number anyway.

The lawsuit I'm thinking of is if they skip a month then promote from 2013 list then some passovers may say "hey my situation was cleared up why wasnt I promoted?" the lawsuit is really irrelevant, just trying to think of ways to convince myself that there will be a December class.

im going further back in the discussion. What could possibly be the issue with promoting people from two different lists In the same class?  There's a documented order of seniority.

By mixing a list in the same bmoc one can argue that there was no clear end date to the old list. Once a passover is cleared from the old list they could sue to get promoted bc there was not clear end/start date. It's all bs if you ask me but apparently it has been an issue in the past. Who cares about this... Isn't going to change anything. Dec is a possibility and that's all that matters at this point!!!
