I don't understand how a promotion to LCD/LSA creates a LT Vacancy. A squad lt who gets the money is still the same squad LT. It wouldn't create an additional spot?

Not much has changed. There are 7-8 Lts are scheduled to retire in Jan and then a few more in Feb.

I feel like just from surveying a handful of people on this board about how many lieutenants are in their commands we could find more openings than that.

I think it's usually looked up through PEMU, it's on host on demand.

Yea but if you look at the capt vacancies there numbers are at 60 something i think so that should create spots

No, the captain vacancies are at +60, not 60 vacancies. So they have 60 too many captains, won't be getting spots from promotions for a while. All going to be retirements.

I heard more, like 40 or more, but who knows these days. The rumors change every minute. I'm hoping the test comes out this week, but I wouldn't be shocked if it didn't.

Terminal for Lt's are not the same as Capt's. You have to wait till they're actually gone. Capt's they can actually fill spots once they are on terminal. Very different. I don't see how they would be able to have a class of Lt's with those #s. But stranger things have happened. Also with the surplus of Capt's that also works against creating Lt vacancies via Capt promos.
