Since they are starting the 2013 sgts list, can anyone tell me when the next test is going to be?!?! What month? They'll announce it? What month they'll give it?? What class I should take? Any advice will be greatly appreciate.
Recently, they like giving these exams in October. I wouldn't be surprised if there is one in October 2016. That's coming from no inside knowledge whatsoever, just based on current rate of promotion and recent DCAS trends.
As for which class to take, I really don't think it matters, as long as you study very hard. I took The Key. Went to class every single week. I did fairly well on the 2013 exam (top 20%) after failing in the past so I highly recommend them.
My guesstimate is that there will be a Sgt test at the end of 2016.
I took key for 2011 Sgt test and they were on point, major part of why I did well on that test. Took key for 2015 Lt test and quite frankly was disappointed. They fell off, while it seems elite is stepping up. I took elite for the crams and was impressed some. In the end it doesn't matter what class you take it depends on how much you sacrifice and the work you put in.
I would say end of next year is a lock based on past history. The key is garbage now in my opinion. It's true you will most likely pass if you study hard no matter what school you use. I say take Elite or if you can learn on your own take risingstar.

You should study on the intranet, link up with someone taking elite and the key make copies and use the material to review.

I would say any class you take will help. The main thing on top of studying the material is getting used to the questions. They have a tendency to repeat questions on these sergeant exams. Don't get me wrong, you learn a lot of info about this job studying but a lot of it is also just rote memorization and having seen the questions before and test taking ability. Me personally, I went heavy with the questions the two days before the 13 exam, did a remake of the 09 test and the 11 test. I legit saw about 75% of those questions on the 13 test rewritten in some form or another. Whatever class you take, link up with someone in your command taking another class and exchange questions. The more the better.

(Key, elite, rising star, academy, etc) the last month before the exam I just did questions. You also have to basically study doing the questions. You have to get the feel of how they write the questions, try to trick you and the process of elimination. I also use to write out what i got wrong. That helped me alot. I was doing so many questions a day I bulit my stamina for the 130 questions. I was probably doing about 200 or more questions a day.
I did elite, you can't beat the elite PG. Yanosik can explain a procedure and I would understand the one time he would tell me. The key had charts and diagrams which was a big help. I would stick with elite and trade material with other people from other classes.

+1 to this. Questions. Questions. Questions. i gathered questions from everywhere. Every pay class, all the academy material, all the patrol guide quizzers out there. I answered roughly 2,000 questions in the last two weeks before the test. Every question that wasn't "I know this 100%," I went back and read the procedure. I think there were 5 or 6 questions that I swear to this day were verbatim from the academy's study material.
When the classes started. If you kill yourself too soon you will burn out. Last 6 weeks before test though I was fortunate enough to have a good boss that let me hide out to study. I was hitting it 15 hours plus a day. I've always been a crammer though. I wouldn't recommend it.
I started studying about 2 weeks before the first class. What I did at first I studied a few hours a day, basically preparing for the class. Saturday was my day, no studying what so ever. It was great bc when Sunday came I was refreshed and ready to go. Towards the middle and end I picked it up, studying about 6 hours or more a day and studying on Saturday's. Don't burn yourself out. They will be days of angry studying, that helps alot.
