June 28, 2013 was promotion to Lt for those waiting for 2 years in rank to become captain. Guess the job wants to pick those guys up by having promotion on Monday. If it's Friday the 26th they will have to wait till next time
Brat if they do the promotions on the 26 rather than the 29 won't that prevent a few guys from getting promoted to Captain due to lack of time in rank?. There are 3 or4 people that hit 2 years in rank as lieutenants on the 28 I believe.
It seems most likely that there are still enough people from the old list that they can put in a full size captain class even with some of the arguments made.

Of course it would prevent them from getting promoted! You need to have 2 years in rank in order to get promoted not ALMOST 2 years.
No **** Captain obvious, that's exactly what I mean; did you you think you were being clever with your smart ass response?. I was asking the question in the sense that I was wondering why the Department wouldn't just wait 3 more days so they can promote the guys on the cusp of two years.

The job does not schedule promotions with the goal of accommodating 3 people on a particular list. Promotion ceremonies usually involve many ranks and the people they accommodate for scheduling are the PC, CoD, Ceremonial Unit, etc. They also have to coordinate with Uniformed Promotions Unit, Shield/ID Card Unit, and make sure the auditorium is available. I wouldn't be surprised if the people who schedule this don't look at the current lists at all.
Where does "the call" come from? Is it the BORO calling? Is it a telephone message to your command, or is it directed to Ops. Coordinator etc.?
The reason I ask is, I work for a very small unit which is closed during the day. There is no one in the office to take any calls. Any info is appreciated.
I think it comes from the promotion unit... In your case I'd keep up with the boards and finest message. I'd even call the promotion unit if I think I was supposed to be called.
