our energy should be focus on eliminating the unrealistic inbasket.... three difficult questions into one? That inbasket was a mess! 12 wrong from the inbasket alone. Final score 61.
You are correct in saying this. That in basket was horrendous. Although I got a score of 75, I dropped 11 in basket questions. Those of you who are within a few points; concentrate on the in basket.
yeah i got a 77 but dropped 10 on in basket .. i honestly dont think were gonna have much luck on the in basket ... if you spent 2 days on the inbasket which ofcourse we did not have we would of got more right . we need to concentrate on the patrol guide questions .. the more people who concentrate on specific questions the better shot we have .. 1, 42,54 and 115 for example allot of people have wrong even for people who passed
I was crushed by the inbasket. About 16 wrong, leaving me with a 67. I HIGHLY suggest attending the protest and give your protest your all. BTW if you attend the protest they give you a certificate of attendance so your personal time is not deducted. Just be sure to get one before leave the building
someone take the time to read it and fight question #1!!!!! I ran out of time otherwise I would have...
Yeah, if anyone has the time and energy to fight the in-basket you would be a hero to the people. There must be many flaws in it, but it's very hard to dive back into something like that. Now that the answer key is out a real studier who arrives on time and has the day off could potentially do the in-basket and fight the bullcrap during their seven hours. Good luck to this honorable samurai, we are all depending on you.
does anyone have any idea how many questions will be throwouts? double/triple answers? i know its early to tell for sure , but any kind of ideas? based on the protest and having a look at the questions again?

I went to yesterday's protest and I didn't really look at many questions...but I bet you none will get thrown out
here is the dilemma: do we want lots of questions thrown out and list grown to 500-600 names and next test in 2019, or no throw outs small list and next next in 2016.
i tell you what. those who score 70s u better pray that no throw outs. take ur score and run with it because its quite possible that someone who scored mid 60s might pick up more points and bypass those who score low 70s.
for example: fellow sgt in 2011 scored 67. after throw outs picked up 12 points+plus seniority final score somewhere 82-83. my old partner scored 71 and picked up only 4 points. guess, who is the captain now?
Regarding the protest: be sure to tell the DCAS employee you would like to submit copies of your patrol guide as evidence. They will come around and stamp it. You can then turn in your supporting documents before leaving. Spread the word.
If any questions are legitimate double answers or throw-outs then the scores should be adjusted to reflect this. However anyone lands after all is said and done, best of luck to them. I could care less if I get passed by someone with a lower score, i just want to be on the list!

Passing is passing my friend. Doesn't matter where you land on the list since it appears that regardless of whether it is 150 or 600...everyone in theory should get made. And whether you are #1 or #600, you will still be LT. I passed but I will be protesting tomorrow for my friends that studied their asses of as much as I did who are on the fence. The job needs strong supervisors like them to be promoted up the ranks. Best of luck to everyone and congratulations to all that passed. But keep the fight going for those who are within reach. Somewhere along the lines the job culture changed to being one way. The only way to make a difference is to stop talking about it and physically do something.
U have a good heart and ur gifs are on point however, what i am pointing out is part of human nature, and you wont change, to see real sacrifice and brotherhood you need to be in combat zone. Todays attendance in bklyn proves my point.
Best of luck to u

I agree brother. It's a shame. It's a tough fight, but the only thing I can control is what I can physically do. So just because I found out yesterday that I passed, won't change the fact that I will be there tomorrow morning and protest as many questions as I possibly can to help out. I am probably one of the few guys on patrol that passed this debacle. Hopefully my protest tomorrow will help the cause for you or anyone else in need of some points.
That's what I am here for, as should everyone else on this forum. Instead of being bitter and wishing bad on someone else, how about we trying this thing called helping each other out? That is the way to break the vicious cycle.
There are English usage challenges. For example, you can't make a recommendation if you haven't first made a determination. The recommendation is just communicating that determination to someone else.
The next test, if it is given in late 2016 as a few here have mentioned, will be just as bad. DCAS and/or a second coming of Vucinaj will send his bitches to the classes to infiltrate elite, key, rising star, see what they are teaching, and put questions on the exam about topics that weren't taught.
Don't waste your time or your money. Stay as a sergeant and be grateful this miserable job at least let you pass one promotional exam. To pay this money, spend 100s of hours studying for **** that won't even be on the test..then be treated like a perp with their bs no highlighters, wait outside for an hour before they let you in, only way u see the answer key is if you go to the protest session.....no thank you...DCAS, Insano, this city can all go F themselves

I've said this before and I plan on sticking with it, unless they have a massive curve getting my 63 on this list, I'm done with the 6-7 month commitment. I know people who passed this exam by simply attending 4-5 weeks of cram and reading what packets they could of IO's, Legal Bureaus, Ops Orders, etc. That's all you need. The exams don't actually test useful knowledge. This is the NYPD, whatever makes sense do the opposite and youll be good.

If my 66 doesnt make it I will find a place to spend the rest of my career. A hell of a lot more spots for Sergeants than Lieutenants on this job. With the money, a few hrs a month, and chart days this rank aint too shabby

It's really not a bad rank. I wanted the white shirt as a personal goal when I joined this job. But it's much easier to get a sweet spot as a sgt that's overall a better quality of life for ur family than an Lt. As an lt. I basically trade the sgt perks for cash and a white shirt.
