Protest Session Update

I got my letter for the 13th. I m going, even though I have heard that this test is airtight. they re expecting no throw outs because of this maniac. whoever goes the 12th, just post what q s are wrong on gamblors. everyone is just going for key lets be honest. no one in my cmd is protesting they just wanna see key and what they got. only guys who used to get questions thrown out were the promo school guys.

There should be throw outs and will be. We need to go protest the questions. Stop depending on others.

What IF less than 200 passed? What would be their course of action? Just go with that number of people and give another exam next year or would they curve the exam to maybe 65 passing?

There will be no curve. If 150-200 pass, they will simply announce another test next year. Look at recent captains tests. Lists used to much larger than the current trend

Guys the list will be let's say 600 to 700. There's no way they will announce another exam within the next two years.

http://www.nyc.gov/html/dcas/html/employees/prr_rule4.shtml

4.4.8. General Rating Standards.

The rating shall be comparative and in accordance with such standards as the needs of the service may require.

4.4.9. Passing Rating.

(a) Unless otherwise specified by resolution or regulation of the commissioner of citywide administrative services, or by the announcement of examination, candidates must attain a final examination rating of not less than seventy percent in an examination in order to be placed upon an eligible list for certification and appointment.

(b) The required passing rating in any test, subject or part of an examination shall be fixed not later than the time of the holding thereof or as soon as practicable thereafter by the assistant commissioner for examinations or by the designated officer of the examining agency.

(c) Where it is anticipated that the number of eligibles will not meet the needs of the service, the commissioner of citywide administrative services or the head of an examining agency, as the case may be, may, in order to provide an eligible list to meet the needs of the service, authorize the use of any type or combination of types of conversion methods or a mathematical formula of penalties for incorrect answers on the basis of test difficulty and other relevant factors involved in the rating of any test.

(d) The commissioner of citywide administrative services or the head of an examining agency may prescribe that the passing mark shall be the lowest grade received among a certain fixed number of candidates graded highest in the examination or in any subject or part thereof.

(e) In the case of an examining agency, any action proposed to be taken pursuant to subparagraphs (b), (c) or (d) hereof which was not provided for in the agency plan for examination approved by the commissioner of citywide administrative services shall be submitted for such approval prior to any such action.

Not saying a 'curve' will happen, but it is allowed.

Outstanding info bngeek.
Question...when was the current list ESTABLISHED? And, is the "4 year rule" true? Can it be extended? I know there's only 90 something names left but it's good to know...anyone?

Correct me if I'm wrong but i was told that you must get there on time because they will unveil the keys for only a few mins at the beginning and then they will cover them up for good. This gets crazier as it goes.

You really think 600-700 passed this debacle? If the list is 300 I'll be shocked

I agree, unless there was another test that I don't know about, the general consensus was that most people failed this test.  The list will be determined by the degree of difficulty of the research questions.

If the majority of the research questions are operations orders with good questions, the list will hit 200 with the top scores of 80-85.  If this doesn't happen it will be a blood bath of 90-120 with top scores of 75-80.

I love how the job in all it's infinite wisdom not only doesn't post the answers anymore, but schedules the protest sessions during work hours and doesn't allow you to reschedule. So Thursday I have to figure out how to get out of going to shooting stat just review this abortion of a test. The city had a system for how many years that was working just fine. And the people making these decisions got to where they are by using that system. Why the hell are they reinventing the wheel now.

And if it's true that they're going to give another test at the end of 2016, theyre not getting my money again. I'm not giving any more of my own time to this job. There's hardly any incentive anymore with this job to work hard.

F... Them lets sneak a pic of the answer key and post it.

honestly it is imperative that someone leak the answer key out on the 12th. the guy who got a 60 on the 12th needs to give the heads up to the other 2/3rd s so they have an idea what to protest. this will benefit all. we have to use the 3 day protest to our advantage and the best way is to give eachother a heads up to narrow down what we can fight or concentrate on fighting.. By comparing the Dcas key vs gamblors we can see which were the ones most got wrong

Even without sneaking a picture of it, there has to be a way to mark the answer sheets so you can have a list of the answers.

Most of us here are competent supervisors with investigative/ street smart background. There should be no excuse we can't figure out how to get 100 letters out of the protest session tomorrow. It will benifit all for the wed Thurs protest session

In all honesty the best way to do this is have a small memo pad and go to the bathroom a few times and write down what you memorized , you and a competent friend whack it up ... Don't think you have to worry about dcas sliding under or over the bathroom stall ..

The protest is 6 hours long.  Half of you are going to write all the answers on some scrap or take a photo.

I'm going Thursday, but one way of getting the key: put phone in shirt's pocket, leave it on record and read the number of question and letter answer to yourself.

It shouldn't be hard to snap a pic. My now captain who was a lieutenant was able to do it with not that many people on the room.. It's very laid back and they don't watch you like on test day. Even if someone gets the pic and sends it to gambler. Even posting it on here. You won't be investigated lol. Your not cheating, ur posting letters. I go on Wednesday. Just hoping someone posts it tomorrow so we can see what questions really need to be protested but comparing to gamblers key.
