I just personally think that ELITE is a much better prep. I think the key went way down hill. Am I the only person that hates all the abbreviations in the packets and all the "line this out"? Rather give my money to Yano... or RisingStar

Believe me ,..I'd go with Rising Star all the way,.....it's cheaper and they give you all you need.
Never taking the key again pass or fail. I feel like they didn't make an effort. Too much "line this out" BS. Make sure the damn packet is right before you print it. The review questions are the worse after each lesson. Elite is a bit more expensive but you get your money's worth. Way to many abbreviations in the key packets... Sometimes I would have to skip an entire procedure and read them straight out the patrol guide because of all the shortcuts they would try and take.
I agree 110% with Bigfoot. Misfud is a good teacher and I enjoyed him but he's about the only reason to even attend a class. The packets, the "line this out" was all the Captain duties cause it was apparent they basically utilized the same packets and didn't change a damn thing from the last Capt exam. There were entire pages we were told to cross out on top of typos all over. The audio this time was a disaster with the apps, all I wanted was a CD to play in the car and I had to burn my own weekly. Elite is $100 more BUT the Key didn't provide a physical Patrol Guide which I had to purchase ($55), and the Key app for iPhone which was $30. So the cost was really a wash. I saw the Elite website and was blown away about how professional and how put together it was. And don't even get me started on the Key cram packets, absolutely atrocious. I did well with the Key for my Sgt exam so stayed loyal but next exam I take, regardless of whether it's for Lt again or Capt, I will have to make a change.
And what's with people trashing someone for studying 8 hrs a day? Who cares how much someone studies, different strokes for different folks. Everyone's gotta relax and stop taking their anger out on each other. The job will never be fair and it will always suck. Is what it is.
The key packets are not designed to be stand alone study material no matter what the instructors tell you. They are meant to reinforce information you already read so that you can review it. I like them, never the less I have to admit they are very outdated and it's a shame because it's obvious that the guy that designed them once knew what he was doing. In addition, in my opinion Misfud is one of the best instructors but every time he told us "don't worry about that I don't think they're going there" he did us a dis-service; Not necessarily because he was wrong but because the examiners were in the audience listening and taking notes.

I will be 100% honest and I will let you know how it turns out after we get the official answer key, but I only studied the key packets. Never opened the patrol guide unless I wanted to clarify something which was maybe 5 times the MOST and right now I have a potential score of a 76. So I happen to like the packets and think they work pretty good. Again until i know what I got I won't praise them, but I find them pretty good.
listen no one but no one told you to sign up for a class. There have been classes that have hit these tests just right. Rising star being the class to take apparently this time around. Stop the nonsense of the key sucks, elite sucks. Because the next time around when elite hits it right, everyone will be complaining that rising star gave you too much to study. The key is not for everyone, DEF NOT for me. Elite is straight patrol guide, every packet is pretty much a copy and paste from the pg which I love! So elite works for me, i know some who like the key notes because it dumbs things down to understand. I know some who bought all 3 and still dont have a passing grade on this test. It all comes down to how you study and what makes you learn in a more productive manner. PPL are angry, i get it, but the answers were from the patrol guide. Just because we didnt read certain procedures doesnt mean any class failed more then another. IMHO, you realllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyy needed to study for this one just to be in it. I think that is reflected with the grades we see.
